Yes, because as we're all aware, 700,000 slaughtered soldiers, entire towns wiped off the map, civilians killed by the tens of thousands, upwards of 1,000,000 dead slaves, and $7,000,000,000,000 in lost wealth (adjusted to today's money) is exactly the same as asking people for an ID prior to voting, allowing poll-watchers unfettered access to the proceedings, and all sorts of other nefarious requests.
