A Draft That I Could Live With

I hate to say this, folks, but, if Hillary Clinton was running for President as a third-party independent, I think that there's a pretty darn good chance that I would vote for her. Not that I necessarily trust her any more than I used to , mind you, but compared to the present two candidate's left standing, yeah, she's starting to look pretty decent..........................................I mean, come on. We've got this one guy in McCain who, apparently, just can't get enough military adventurism to satisfy him. He wants a situation in Iraq that will never, ever, happen and is willing to stay there forever until it does (or should I say doesn't?). Scary, huh?...........................................Of course, on the other hand, we have Obama, a guy who, less than four years ago, mind you, was busy working on pot-hole legislation. And, yes, this fellow kind of scares me, too. For instance, he stated that it may in fact be necessary for us to "go back in" - you know, if the Iraqis start to back-slide (and you know that they will), genocide starts to happen, etc.. And let's not forget, either, how he's willing to use air-strikes to take out Al Qaeda....EVEN IF THOSE TARGETS ARE INSIDE PAKISTAN, for Christ!..............................................Yes, folks (and, yes, I AM serious), I'm starting to think that Hillary, truly (who I frankly think showed a lot of class at the end of her campaign - certainly more than Reagan in'76 or Kennedy in '80), just might be the best/least objectionable Commander in Chief of the three. Too bad we don't have the option of voting for her (yes, yes, I know, the system, the system), huh?

"Too bad we don't have the option of voting for her"

The time for that has come and passed, looking bask and wanting is to miss what needs attention in front of us now.
We know that McCain limits our options and Obama opens them, it's really a binary choice.

Will, the left took McCain's "100 years" comment out of context just to make him look bad.

What he was comparing to was that we still have troops in Germany, Japan and Korea among others after how many years now?

BTW,

While I wasn't going to vote for McCain, I really do like his pick of Palin. Her I can vote for.

What do you think?

IrOnY RaGeD said...

anonymous, exactly what "options" does Obama open?

Actually, I wasn't referring to the 100 years comment. I was more hitting him on the fact that he seems to want Iraq to be like X.... and that I don't think that it ever will be like X....and the fact that he says that he'll never surrender, etc., etc.. I think we've chalked up victory already, basically.

Palin? Well, she's definitely attractive. That's not what you're asking me, though, huh? LOL One bad thing is that it robs McCain of his "experience" argument. 1 1/2 years as a governor sounds a little thin. And her anti-abortion hard line won't make a dent in the Hillary vote. What is does do, however, is solidify the Republican base. Might persuade a few swing women, too. Overall, it's probably a wash. P.S. That was a fair analysis, right? Just wait, though, the LC bunch'll find something worth pissing on. They always do.

Hey Will,

I think trying to capitalize on her lack of experience will backfire on them. It only highlights Obama's lack of experience.

Besides that, almost all of her experience has been in an executive position. She's the only one on either ticket that can claim that experience, not even McCain has held an executive position in government.

Further, she's only been nominated for the number two slot. Barry's trying to claim the number one.

Secondly, she may not appeal to the hard left crowd but I think if Biden and Obama try to treat her like they did Hillary they're gonna come off as chauvinists to women in general.

The experience thing is definitely a double-edged sword. I just wish she were in those executive jobs longer. But, like you said, at least she has some of that going for her.

No Will ACTUALLY when you make sense I agree with you...............let me just add if you are not confident enough to debate the merits of your arguments and let the brest ideas win and are too insecure to have YOUR positions challenged by others maybe you should close your blogs to comments otherwise just man up and engage in honest debate and let the facts and the best ideas win rather than constantly whining and crying foul when ANYONE challenges you.

Also you just might get some more respect if you actually ADMITTED when you are wrong ibstead of constantly trying to bury and deflect with insults.

No, Mike, it's just hard to debate paranoid lunatics whose perceptions are constantly filtered by their various delusions. Bottom-line, Mike, you never seem to even try to understand what I'm saying. I know I tend to deal in nuance and you guys never met a dichotomy that you couldn't embrace, still, though, it's frustrating.

Out of context?
I suggest you check the context, your man changed his own tune (again, flip flop, flip flop).
Also Japan German launched two world wars and will never be allowed to have anything but minimal self defense forces again, not so with Iraq. YOUR candidate showed his lack of knowledge by putting Iraq in the same basket. The status of Iraq is different and the United States cannot stay there 100 years, even Iraq has said so now. Doltron.

Doltron,

Obama creates the option to free troops to finish the mission we started before Iraq, and allow Iraq to create her own future.

McFear locks us in to the same cycle we've been in since 2003.

McCain's fake smiling face makes me sick. He is an ass hole!
WHY Didn't McCain make the Announcement in Alaska- HER home state. And then reading her story, some things did NOT make sense.
Like that she was Pregnant and No One she worked with Knew she was pregnant ? And that she Flew HOME from Texas, and she was OVER 7 Months Pregnant and her water Broke ? what a coincidence they kept their daughter out of school for almost 8 months! I don't care how dedicated you are who the hell does that? How is it she went back to work so quickly with a special need baby? I mean come on get real!

The more I hear about her the more concerned I get. I heard a rumor that her daughter was pregnant and she was hiding it. That makes sense to another story I heard that her water broke in Texas and she flew home to give birth. Now it makes more sense when you hear that baby is her daughters. No wonder she was back on the trail in two or three days!
This woman is a proven liar willing to fire everyone that disagrees with her and does not do her bidding. Whether she is a Woman or not she is more of the same and we are in trouble if these monkeys steal another one!

Palin said in a mispeak that she had 4 kids not 5. She is not the Mother of that Baby her daughter is. She is the grandmother.

I don't remember who has been posting on it but someone has! They have been raiding houses at gunpoint of potential protesters.
I do have an article on the gestapo attacking the protesters head quarters also at gun point. This police state strong arming sickens me.
As it turns out Republicans themselves will be scarce thanks to Gustav. They are not smart enough to but they should take Gustav as an omen!
Anyway the plan was to arrest all the protesters and say see people agree with what we do. Hell it worked for China!

Voltron:

I would hardly call 2 terms as mayor for a town of 9000 as "executive experience." Nor do I consider an incomplete term as governor a fair measure of executive ability. Clinton had served more time as Governor of Arkanas and the Repub's still questioned his experience. At best, this is akin to hiring a doctor who had not completed his internship...

Any fair discussion in this debate centers around who is more suitable as VP, Biden or Palin. Trying to conflate Obama v Palin is sooo not apples to apples. Senator McCain is 72 years old, making Palin a heartbeat from the presidency. I think I would have more faith in Biden assuming the presidency under the similiar circumstances.

I am not so sure "experience" is a viable issue anymore. In my Opinion, Senator McCain choose his VP candidate hoping to siphon votes from Hillary supporters...McCain's choice has nothing to do with qualifications or experience. McCain I believe met Palin on 1 occasion. He made this decison based on a phone call...I have heard that Palin was even properly vetted...see the articles about an abuse of power charge the state of Alaska has initiated. Apparently she flip floped on "The Bridge to Nowhere" during the campaign for Governor...yeah she wanted it at first.

To me Mitt Romney made far more sense. He rec'd more votes than Huckabee. He would win Michigan, a battleground state. This election will be decided in the mid west. Lastly, Romney ACTUALLY HAS executive experience...he knows something about business, etc. The real problem may be that they can't stand each other.

Hope we are still friends...I owe you a beer anyway...

Por nada Marcus, still friends...

I think Palin will energize the base even more than Romney would have. She's a true conservative.
And McCain NEEDS the base and he can't get it on his own.

There are still plenty of voters out there who wonder about Obama's lack of experience and them questioning hers will simply reflect back I believe. Also, she's not being nominated for the number 1 spot, Obama is.

Also, she may not attract the hard core lefties who would've voted for Hillary, they've already made the just to Obama anyway. She'll more than likely get a lot of the PUMA vote, and more women who are less ideologues, and ALL the right wing chicks.

IrOnY RaGeD said...

should've been "jump to Obama...."

LOL

Marcus, you're right, though, about McCain and Romney not liking each other. Man, was that obvious during some of those debates. And, no, you didn't need Bill O'Reilly's "body-language" expert to figure it out. I especially liked McCain's line about Romney needing his "small varment" gun to chase the Guatemalens off his lawn. I literally broke out on that one, dude. LOL
