Another Two Point Field-Goal for O'Reilly

F.Y.I., Bill, all of those Sunday (3/16/08) news shows, all the other frigging cable-channels, for Christ - they ALL covered the Obama pastor story, thoroughly, O.K.? "Face the Nation" with Bob Schieffer, in particular, gave it an extremely complete examination. And you know this for a frigging fact, don't you, me-bucko? Hell, you even went as far to allude to it.................................Of course, instead of admitting that you were (let's see, what's the word I'm looking for here, oh yeah) WRONG!, you did what any pompous, far-to-the-right-of-center, spin-meister does. Yeah, that's right, bro, you moved the frigging goal-posts!! You started bitching as to HOW they were covering it - even going as far as to look for coded meanings in the verbiage, for Christ! And this from a fellow who says that, dammit, he doesn't speculate - EVER! Incredible.

I am not sure whether I agree witya there. The Wright Affair should concern us, especially those of us who value secularism. Many Obama supporters overlook BO's connection to this strange church (and the fact that he has for months campaigned on a "faith and family" platform). Mega-churches from Atlanta to Anaheim rally for BO; some conservative fundamentalists now support him (as do American muslims). Barack's a "churchie", that's fairly obvious: he seems all the sleazier assuming that he puts on this pious act to win votes.

O'Reilly's comments on Wright were not completely off-mark. The Kossack sorts had a nervous reaction (somewhat understandable) to that Hagee clown; yet Wright's bizarre rapture speak should also offend us. Not about the race card: a fundie is a fundie.

O'Reilly's not as rightist as many of the Kossack sorts believe him to be, and I find it amusing how the bloggers present him as a crypto-fascist: maybe it's a certain type of catholic-bashing one notes among some bourgeois liberals (and no, that doesn't mean I believe truth resides with El Papa).

I have no problem with O'Reilly (or anybody) covering the pastor Wright story (though, yes, I wish he would occasionally cover Republican miscues/hypocrisy, too). I'm just fed up with him lying about his competitors; that they aren't covering the story, that they're covering it in a partisan manner, etc.. And the hyperbole, for Christ!!
