......in that, on the one hand, if they don't work they could potentially wreck the economy but if they do whatever tax revenues that Mr. Trump is banking on from the tariffs will dry up because the public will be buying more American products and more companies will be setting up shop here. Ya' see what I'm saying?
And, please, don't get me wrong, I sincerely hope that everything works out but being that the track record of this type of mercantilism is spotty, at best, I do have some doubts about this. If I was advising President Trump I would have told him to table this stuff and instead X-out the corporate income tax and double-down on his "drill baby, drill" in that those things will accomplish his goals (having companies set up shop in the U.S. being the major one, as I see it) and avoid the risk of tariffs. If only I could get the dude to take my calls (said in jest for those of you a wee-bit slow on the uptake).
