Remembering The DC 5

People forget. The number one rival of the Beatles from 1964 to 1967 wasn't the Rolling Stones. It was the Dave Clark Five. The band had 17 top 40 hits in that three year period and they still hold the record for most appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show (by a musical act) with 18.....................................................................................And boy, could these fellow ever rock. A much more surging sound than the Beatles (though not as raucous as The Who), the best of their impressive canon includes such classics as "Bits and Pieces", "Catch Us If You Can", "Over and Over", and my personal favorite, "Glad All Over". Yes, they eventually did make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but the harsh fact that it took 19 years after they were initially eligible was a travesty, in my opinion.

Hm. Can't say I've heard of them. No, I am not proud of that.

Ah, the Dave Clark Five, brings back some old memories long ago tucked away as early adolescence faded into adulthood.

I remember going to their movie when I was a kid and being totally amped about it.
