Green with Craziness

Darryl Hannah is no doubt a very charming, talented, and decent woman. And I don't doubt for a second her commitment and sincerity as a staunch environmentalist. But what the woman said on O'Reilly recently was about as close to bat-shit crazy as you can get. According to Hannah, T. Boone Pickens failed (to the tune of two billion dollars, mind you) intentionally with solar energy in an effort to push forward his true agenda, natural gas. I mean, I know that Mr. Pickens is a shrewd businessman and all; a man who isn't afraid to lose money in order to make MORE money but, come on! I don't think that even HE would want to fritter away two BILLION............................................................................................P.S. One of the reasons that Mr. Pickens failed in his solar endeavor was a lack of sufficient power lines. My question is, why in the hell wasn't this addressed in the stimulus package? $862,000,000,000 and they couldn't even think to do this basic thing. Unbefrigginglievable, huh?

"Daryl Hannah"... one "r", not two.

Are you talking about this clip (3 minutes in)? If so, T. Boone Pickens' investment in wind power is discussed, not solar power. Also, the amount mentioned is 1.5 billion, not 2 billion.

And Daryl Hannah doesn't state that she believes he failed in that endeavor intentionally. She said, "if you scratch the surface, you'll see that T. Boone Pickens has another agenda, which is natural gas". Are you saying Daryl Hannah is wrong about Pickens being into natural gas?

What he's saying is Daryl Hannah is one of,if not the worst actress of all time.

You're right, it was wind power. I'm doing these posts at work and until I get my connection fixed you can probably expect more errors I fear.......Yes, Mr. Pickens is involved in natural gas but he was clearly invested in wind ower, too - extensively. Too bad for him (and us) that we have such an idiotic government that wastes so much money on stuff that we don't need and bubkas on what we do.

It comes as no surprise really Will. Our government is the model of efficiency and productive progress don't ya know?

Rusty: ...Daryl Hannah is one of, if not the worst actress of all time.

I've liked her in everything I've seen her in. I think she's a good actress.

Will: Too bad for him (and us) that we have such an idiotic government that wastes so much money on stuff that we don't need and bubkas on what we do.

Damn Republicans. I also agree about T. Boone. I've cried myself to sleep many a night over T. Boone not making billions with the help of the government. My tax money most certainly should be used to make billions richer, damn-it!

Les, you'd think that out of that $862,000,000,000 they could have found at least a couple of billion for transmission lines in the biggest wind corridor in North America. Duh, huh? And to think, these are the people that wd wants to monopolize health-care in this country.

It's not a question of making Mr. Pickens richer, wd. It's a question of the government not providing an appropriate infrastructure for the energy sources that they themselves have been touting. They piss away money on ethanol, Solyndra, stupid-assed Chevy Volts, bridges to nowhere, etc. and then they ignore the biggest wind corridor in the country. I repeat, duh!

That wasn't a shovel ready project. Something like that would probably take years of planning. I'm sure the Republicans wouldn't sign on to legislation to start the process.

They didn't need the Republicans. And if the government HAD started the construction of power lines, maybe Mr. Pickens would have possibly hung in there. But now we'll never know, huh?

Just read a couple of articles about TBP and his wind power project. None mentioned the goverment failing to build infrastructure to support him as a reason he changed his mind.

One article said, "Financing is tough right now and so it's going to be delayed a year or two". The second said the problem was that, in Texas (where his farm was to be built), "utilities have already bought enough wind power to meet their renewable energy targets".

So... it looks like Will is wrong and this post is just another of his attempts to bash the Obama administration and Green Energy for partisan reasons.

So, how many articles did you have to go through to find those 2. And, what, you're saying the reason that Pickens's venture failed was because there was already enough wind energy and that they didn't need any more. That's ridiculous, wd. And the project wasn't just for Texas anyway.

Any criticism of Obama is now considered Obama bashing? Really?

From the energycollective.com - "However, since the very beginning his wind plans have fizzled. From the outset, construction of the wind farm was hampered by a lack of transmission lines to transfer the energy to city centers."
