Imperially Speaking

Let's see if I've gotten this straight, folks. The Hashemite Kingdom was ultimately awarded 80% of British Mandate Palestine. The Jews (a people with ancient and continuous ties to the land) - they, on the other hand, received 12%. But, in the minds of very many, it's still the latter who get the tag of "imperialists"? Now THAT is very interesting.............................................................................................Of course, the whole thing gets even more preposterous when you look at some of the additional facts. 1) The Jews were awarded only those areas in which THEY had the clear majority. 2) From basically 1929 onward, the Arabs of that area have engaged in a systematic effort to terrorize civilian areas/kill civilians. 3) For long stretches of time prior to the partition, the British put massively severe restrictions on Jewish immigration - this, me-buckos, while, at the same time, providing Arabs virtually unrestricted access. 4) Prior to Jewish development of Western Palestine (the land purchased fairly and squarely from absentee landlords), the area was at best sparsely populated. It was only after the Jews turned what was essentially swampland into a thriving area did the Palestinian/Arab population grow to the extent that it did. 5) Israel has tried from day one to live in peace with its Arab neighbors. Even after they took the West Bank from Jordan (an act that was prompted solely because of Jordan's aggression/their attack on Jewish population centers), they were willing from the start to give it back for peace/security. 6) Whenever Arab states HAVE shown a willingness to seek peace with Israel, they've clearly been successful. Reference Sadat, King Hussein, the fact that Turkey and Israel have had normalized relations for years, etc..........................................................................................Look, folks, I don't particularly enjoy doing this - not even a little. But the anti-Israel sentiments that I've been encountering are absolutely dumbfounding. I mean, seriously, doesn't SOMEBODY have to speak up for Israel here?......................................................................................P.S. Bill Clinton did some things that brought shame upon this nation - no question. And I'm certainly not about to defend him when it comes to those issues. But, yes, I was/am very proud of his strong/tireless attempts to bring about peace in the Middle East. It's just too bad that there wasn't somebody on the Palestinian side (ten God-damned frigging years ago) that wanted it as bad as he did.

Will,
you must be getting this Israeli victim stuff straight from AIPAC.

Doesn't anybody stick up for Isreal ?
You might try the entire mainstream media, for a start. every newspaper, TV and radio channel, every stinking politician for a start.

How much military aid do we give to the actual inhabitants of Palesine ? The people who have always been there ? Try zero.

How much military aid goes to the Europeans on that land. The Europeans who drove the inhabitants off a well developed land (not the "land without a people" jews always talk about)?
Billions.

The only place jews had a clear majority was in a synagogue.

The only terror was colonial european terror against the Arabs and the other european colonialists.

Since you've been wrong about everything else so far, I'm assuming you're also wrong about the Arab access.Chiefly because the Arabs were already there.

Six percent of the land was purchased from absentee landlords.6% !

Israel has NEVER made any attempt to get along with it's Arab "neighbors". Israel attacked Jordans population centers as they continue to attack people in Gaza and the West Bank,as they attacked Lebanon and Syria.

Come on man, you're a smart guy. A little balance man.

I was talking about the blogs and academia. In terms of aid to the Palestinian Authority, they've received over 6 billion. Where the hell has THAT gone? And what about all of the aid that Iran and Syria (those bastions of Democracy) have given to the Palestinian terrorist groups? I'm assuming that Hizbollah doesn't manufacture that weaponry on it's own. As for Western Palestine, the only population there (early 20th century) was Bedouin. The Jews emigrated there fair and square, created jobs and this caused the Arab influx. The UN voted 33-14 for partition (those who voted against were purely the thuggish dictatorial regimes) and IMMEDIATELY the Arabs (many of whom supported Hitler during WW2) atempted to annihalate the Jews. Yes, this was strictly to be a war of annihalation. Israel only goes after terrorists. The fact that Palestinian civilians accidently get killed (this, as opposed to the purposeful murder of children by the despicable Hamas) could clearly be prevented if these vile human beings stopped hiding behind women and children. And it's very deceptive to say that Israel goes after "population centers". Hamas builds their bomb factories inside of schools, plops their command and control centers smack dab in the middle of neighborhoods, utilizes ambulences to transport terrorists, etc.. They're the ones who have no regard for human life. As for Jordan, Israel pleaded with King Hussein to stay out of the '67war. It was him who bombed population centers INDISCRIMINANTLY and flew bombing missions over Israeli cities. And it was the "Palestinians" who raped and pillaged as far back as the 1920s. My God, they supported frigging Hitler, for Christ.

It doesn't sound like you think that Israel deserves to exist, period. Is that your version of a "little balance"?
