The Most Despicable Act Ever Ordered by a U.S. President?

Wow, that's a tough one, folks, in that there are just so many to choose from; Jackson and the Trail of Tears, FDR and the firebombing of numerous Japanese cities, Fillmore's relentless backing of the Fugitive Slave Act, etc.. But if I had to pick just one it would probably be when President McKinley ordered that those rifles be turned from the Spanish invaders to the Philippine resistance fighters, with the end result being a couple of hundred thousand dead Asians. It was an unconscionable act, not just of cruelty but of disloyalty, too, and the fact that we have seemingly learned nothing from the experience is thoroughly disheartening.

I have to agree. This one is not "hyped" up, but I was surprised and shocked when I first read about it several years ago. The height of the US as an actual empire... and as a rather evil one.

By the way, if you want to look at other "underreported" atrocities of history, ever look into the Tulsa Riots?

No, but I should.
