The Ultimate Jordanless Team For the Ages

The starters; point guard - Walt Frazier, shooting guard - Joe Dumars, center - Bill Russell, power forward - Dave DeBusschere, small forward - Scottie Pippen.............The bench; guards - Manu Ginobli, Nate McMillan, Rory Sparrow (his hard foul on Larry Bird in the 1984 playoffs showed enormous guts, I'm thinking), center - Alonzo Mourning, forwards - Detlef Schrempf, Michael Cooper, Anthony Mason..................................................................................................Rationale. a) I tried to commit myself to starters who were great at playing defense. b) I tried to find great players who would be willing to come off the bench and who in fact had some experience doing so. c) I tried to find players with a winning pedigree and who were also very unselfish.

This is a team that could never be put together because of players playing at different times. How about a "best team" with players who competed at the same time. For example, what would be the makeup of your best team from current NBA players?

Never heard of any of these people except Larry Bird. I think I've heard the name Scottie Pippen too, although I couldn't guess what team he plays (or played) for.

I'm with Jerry in questioning why do this, but not in agreement with his suggestion that your imaginary team consist of current players. Why put together an imaginary team at all? Who cares?

Come on, w-d. You know why. There are a lot of sport fans. Sport fans enjoy doing this sort of thing.

I've heard about it, but do not understand it in the least. What a boring, pointless waste of time.

I just looked at the Wikipedia entry for "Fantasy Football" but got incredibly bored and couldn't read more than a few sentences. I was curious to find out if pretend games are actually played, and how the winners of those games are determined. Is it like D&D and what happens is determined using multi-sided dice?

Even that would be hard, Jerry. I mean, you got some fellows like Steve Nash and Tim Duncan who I would have loved to have had in their prime and others like CP3 and Durant who are currently in their prime. I would really have to think a little while on that one.

It is all hypothetical anyway.

Is CP3 related to C-3P0? Is he a robotic basketball player? THAT I'd like to see.

Based on what D-Wade did in game 6, I'd probably have to start with him; 41 points on 17-25 from the field.

You know...other then the money they pump into the sportsbook....if the NBA went away tomorrow Rusty would'nt notice nor would he care....I'm "choke," with WD on this one.

So it's me and Jerry versus Rusty and wd on this one.......So, what do you think, Jerry, a little game of 2 on 2 half court - ya' think we can take 'em?

Yeah, it would probably be a pretty hallow victory, no question.

If I could get rid of one sport it would be football. I was tempted to say boxing, but it isn't on TV as much (and therefore does not annoy me as much). My dislike for basketball is insignificant compared to my dislike for football and boxing.
