Dear Rachel Maddow

I oppose using the budget reconciliation process to pass heath-care reform and climate legislation. As one of the authors of the reconciliation process, I can tell you that the ironclad parliamentary procedure it authorizes were never intended for this purpose.......Sincerely, Senator Robert Byrd West Virginia.

Robert Byrd is dead. He has no say in the Senate any longer. The Republicans use every tool at their disposal (they don't fight fair) to push their agenda forward. I believe the Democrats should do whatever is possible to push forward theirs. The Democrats acting fairly certainly will not cause the Republicans to reconsider using less fair tactics. They'll only make themselves chumps by taking the "high ground".

I'll agree with you to this extent. I really think that the country needs some filibuster reform. Reduce the threshold to, say, 55. That way one side can't continuously hold up important legislation, appointments, etc..

So, in other words, both sides don't fight fair. You just think it is OK and don't call it that when the Dems don't fight fair.

The ends apparently justify the means, dmarks.

The recent recess appoints made ( even though Congress wasn't technically in recess)... I would have been outraged if bush had done this. But Obama? I say "more power to him" if he can get away with it.
