Farts in an Ice-Storm

 According to an article by Berner and Kothavala in the American Journal of Science (2001 - "A Revised Model of Atmospheric CO2 over Phanerozoic Time"), the atmospheric CO2 levels of the Ordovician-Silurian and Jurassic-Cretaceous glaciations were more than 4,000 ppm and 2,000 ppm respectively....So, folks, not only was there NOT a runaway greenhouse warming effect, they were damned ice-ages! Clearly, there are a lot of other, more powerful, variables at work here.

A Huge But Actually Quite Miniscule Drop in the Bucket

Here are the facts, folks. The total U.S. GDP - approximately $16 trillion. The total salary of the Fortune 500 CEOs- approximately $5 billion. The percentage of the U.S. economy which comprises these salaries - approximately .03% (three one hundredths of one percent)............................................................................So, does that in fact provide perspective here? To say that this is in any way a part of our economic malaise is hugely ridiculous, I think. And I also have to ask my progressive colleagues, if it was such a trivial thing for guys like McCain to focus on pork-barrel spending at $17 billion a year, then how, pray tell, is it not even more petty for folks like ya'all to focus on an amount  that's even 70% less than that...AND PRIVATE MONEY? It sure as hell seems like a loser to me.

The Latest Progressive Strategy - I Shit You Not

Confiscate every cent of Fortune 500 CEO salaries and disseminate it to 500,000 lower wage individuals whose identities will be determined later by still another group of individuals who identities will be determined later. The CEOs will be free to keep their jobs and work for nothing if they desire. If, however, this is not a workable scenario, then a government bureaucrat will take the job for $170,000 a year and this will be paid for by raising taxes on the second rung of corporate CEOs (which, according to salarylist.com, is about $166,000 a year). Oh, and if the corporations end up being driven into the ground by these bureaucrats, they'll get a bailout (the heavily unionized employees all making $169,999 obviously getting the first bite at the fruit) as many times as necessary!

The Day the Debate Died (With Apologies to Don McLean)

Several years ago there was an Intelligence Squared PBS debate on global warming. On the skeptics' side was Richard Lindzen, Philip Stott, and Michael Crichton and on the warmists' side was Gavin Schmidt, Richard Somerville, and some lady from the Union of Concerned Scientists. They polled the audience before and after and it was (and, please, keep in mind here that this is a PBS audience) 29% (global waring isn't a crisis) - 58% (global warming is a crisis) - 13% (not sure)  - before and 46% - 42% - 12% - after................................................................................Yep, folks, the skeptics made the more compelling argument and even in a setting such as PBS were able to significantly sway the audience. Of course, it was also the beginning of the end in terms of these warmists actually wanting to defend their "science" and positions publicly. At the recent International Conference on Climate Change 7, for example, the event coordinator there, James Taylor, invited 57 warmists to speak and not a single one consented to...................................................................................It's kind of like with Gore. The dude refuses to debate Bjorn Lomborg. He refuses to debate Lord Monckton. He refuses to debate John Coleman. He even refused to debate his erstwhile friend and supporter, Michael Crichton. It's like, yeah, of course the debate is over if you refuse to sit down and debate people.

Yes Governor, too much concentrated CO2 can totally cause death. But so, too, the same can be said for oxygen (oxygen toxicity) and nitrogen (nitrogen asphyxiation). HELLO! I mean, I know that you politicians aren't necessarily the smartest folks out there and that it's exceedingly hard to get you to look beyond whatever it is that shiny object happens to be at the moment but I'm afraid that I'm going to have to give you a double duh on this one, bra. CO2 as a pollutant. LOL!
