On General William Winder (Circa 1814) Refusing to Even Contemplate the Possibility that British Troops Would Ultimately Cannonade Washington D.C. During the War of 1812

  Yes, Baltimore was the much more logical target to defend (Washington still being relatively backwater at the time) but to leave the District totally defenseless was inexcusable and the fact that it took Mr. Madison something this egregious to shit-can the guy, some shade on him as well.
