And, yes, one of the main reasons why the death-toll at Andersonville and other southern prisons was so high was because the North had all but obliterated the South's infrastructure (making it all but impossible to resupply the prisons), stolen and/or destroyed its food supply, etc. - factors which made the death-rate of prison guards almost as high as that of the prisoners and which didn't exist up north.
