On the Fact that (According to Economist, Richard Epstein) Life Expectancy in this Country Rose from 38 in 1850 to 54 by 1920, a Spike that Happened During the Industrial Revolution and Prior to Any Significant Labor Legislation
I point this out because the left is always trying to assert that the industrial revolution was this horrible period in history (conveniently ignoring the fact that 18th and 19th Century farm labor in America was extraordinarily dangerous, brutal, etc. and that factory work, while it surely wasn't pleasant, was a definite improvement) and that it wasn't until the white-knighted labor movement that the lives of Americans got better. To crush their myth, in other words.............................................................................................P.S. And yes, the fact of the matter is that life got better predominantly because of free market capitalism, entrepreneurial and technological advancements, private property, etc. and that the biggest accomplishment of labor unions was to somehow jump in front of the parade and claim that they started it.
