Thank the Lord for Midway
While it may have been the majority opinion in our intelligence community that the Japanese were going to advance their next offensive at Midway, it was far from a unanimous one. Yes, Nimitz was on board but other commanders strongly felt that Yamamoto was either going to attack Hawaii again or possibly even the U.S. mainland. Thankfully, Nimitz (who ended up putting all three of our aircraft carriers and multiple torpedo squadrons near the island) was right and the Japanese suffered one of the most lopsided defeats in their history (the Akagi, Soryu, and Kaga all being set ablaze by dive-bombers), never again mounting such an offensive in the Pacific. Talk about a bet, huh?

I wonder just what the lord had to do with Midway.
If we are to assume the lord had something to do with Midway are we ro assume the lord had something to do with our losses? Perhaps humans are just pawns in a cosmic chess match being played by competing lords.
Oh, that's right. The Bible says as much.
I meant, the Lord, euphemistically.
Oh RN...that big brain of yours thinks on so many levels....more levels then the average person will never understand....I think someday you will just evaporate into a could of knowledge.
I know ;-)
I'm just in one of those philosophical moods. Something the Tea Party folks get all tied in knots over cause they can't keep up. They just get into a frothy ad hominem tizzy.
BTW, you have one of those as a regular and it ain't dmarks, Jerry, or yourself.
