On the Ethanol Scam (AKA, the Longest Running Pilfering of the America Taxpayer in History)

It has NEVER been an energy policy and ALWAYS been a farm subsidy policy. And if you're interested in the abject absurdity of this policy, just get a load of this. According to the periodical, Strategic Studies Quarterly, just to replace the U.S. oil needs for transportation, it would take a land area of about 700 MILLION acres (37% of the continental United States) with nothing but corn growing on it....It's insanity, folks, and just the mere concept that we're destroying food and destroying it at a juncture when many people are struggling is enough to make me vomit. I'm sorry but it is.

Such unsustainable energy efforts increase hunger, worldwide, and have surely caused some deaths.

dmarks, this is such an indefensible program that even Al Gore and Rolling Stone have jumped ship on the thing. Now that is bad.

Surprised that Gore turned against it. I guess he personally wasn't getting rich off of it (Gore being a "think personally, act globally") type of guy)
