Pearl Harbor - It Could Have Been Worse (Seriously)

a) The Japanese failed to sink any of our three aircraft carriers (they were fortuitously out to sea). b) They failed to destroy our power plant (so at least the base was able to maintain electricity). c) They failed to destroy any of our factories/machine shops (important in that repairs were allowed to begin immediately). And d) they failed to blow up any of our oil storage tankers (ergo no fuel shortage). Yep, folks, it could have been a shitload worse.

And add to that all but one or two [IIRC] battlewagons were raised/repaired and returned to active service.

The Japanese actually did sort of a piss poor job.
