Textbook
O.K., here's another example of delusional/fringe thinking. Lydia Cornell, remember her? Well, guess what, in an effort (I gather) to get back at me for not completely towing HER line, she has unleashed what seems to be a small regiment of henchmen to excoriate me (one actually accuses me of being gay AS A SMEAR - no acceptance of homosexuality with these "progressives", evidently). I mean, sure, most of it is merely hyper-partisan rancor/rank insults (I'm stupid, essentially, one of them says) but get this. They are actually accusing me of faking my role as a somewhat left-of-center media critic (a phony progressive/Republican operative, I think is how they worded it) just so I could sneak on their site and have some some sort of liberal street-cred. Seriously, this is what these lunatics (yes, I know, I insult people, too, but, please, read on) are saying about me......................................I mean, come on, think about it. I start a blog called "Contra O'Reilly", where I lambast not only O'Reilly but a bevy of other right-wing toughies of the media and, yes, criticize George W. Bush's foreign-policy as well AND I DO IT FOR TWELVE MONTHS....just so I can go on a blog that until two weeks ago I didn't know existed. And, what, all because I didn't like John McCain being called a traitor/questioned Obama's resolve? Absolutely certfiable, folks, these people.

Wow, where did this happen? Over on Lydia's blog? Will have to go over there and see...I stop in there from time to time and one of her writers, Larry, comments a lot on various blogs I read, including mine and we are usually of similar mindset...I'm surprised this happened. But I don't read the Lydia blog all the time so haven't been caught up with what's being said there lately.
I agree, I don't like the depths of hatred that are thrown at John McCain by some progressives. If we don't like when the GOP "swift boats" our candidates, and uses foul epithets about them, then we shouldn't be doing the same thing to McCain.
I just realized you had made another comment on Medicana and just read it - your program sounds interesting and enjoyable.
I'm back...just checked out the comment thread at Lydia's. I agree they did jump on you (especially once they started calling you a troll) but I can see how it escalated a bit based on your original comments...maybe there might have been a more tactful way to jump in since you apparently aren't a usual commenter over there? ;-)
Anyway, I hope we progressives (I proudly call myself a Liberal, actually!) can manage to get along and unite to fight McCain in the fall. Because if even half the stuff that Lydia has dug up on him is true then if he wins we have a really big problem that is bigger than all of us!
WOW!, I can't believe I didn't tell you about "Larry"...
First off, "Larry" isn't a real flesh and blood person. He's a special computer program designed by Chinese and North Korean hackers.
"Larry" is only the project code name, his real moniker is "Spambot 2.0".
Improved from the "Spambot 1.0", this update not only spams a board with hundreds of copy and paste articles from sources of questionable origin, it also has a random phrase generator that posts statements at the bottom of aforementioned articles with cute comments such as "Are you happy now Bush?" and "Bush loves this!".
One note of caution though,
When someone starts to question "Larry"'s seeming mechanical behavior, another of the board members will temporarily take over the "Larry" identity to try and convince you of his "humanity".
It usually takes the form of short unoriginal and forced epithets.
(much like everyone else there)
There are rumors floating around that a new much needed update, the "Spambot 3.0" is currently being beta tested.
It's supposed to be able to more closely mimic human behavior and have a softer more feminine approach to help counter balance Cliffy's homophobic postings.
I can't find any articles to back up the rumor that this update is code named "Lawrence"...
LOL, I kill me!!!
I'm gonna have to cross post this at my place just so I don't lose it.
You're probably right, Mauigirl. I could have been more tactful. It was just that that whole calling McCain a traitor thing kind of pushed me over the edge. But, please, stay tuned/believe me, I've defended Democrats with equal vigor over the years (Kerry, in particular). Just for the record, the last 3 postings of mine on that "progressive" site (yeah, the one that makes fun of homosexuality) were deleted. Free speech, not so much over there.
Interesting, Voltron. Yeah, that homophobic stuff was quite eerie indeed.
Oh well, I thought it was funny...
Oh, absolutely. Lawrence is definitely more metrosexual than Larry. Seriously, though, do they do any market-testing on this crap, prior to their unveiling it?
Are you talking about their commentary in general or the "Spambot"?
I suppose it doesn't really matter the answer to both would be "no".
It's hard to sell something to someone you've just finished denigrating, unless the buyer is a masochist.
Oh speaking of market testing and selling,
Lydia's been writing a book about Ann Coulter for over three years now.
It was "almost finished" around 2005 when I first started posting there.
At this point, Lydia's going to have to start a new conflict and re-title the book just to keep it relevant.
Seriously, yeah. I mean, didn't Coulter in fact say that she would actually campaign for Hillary OVER McCain? "Hillary's our girl, Sean", she told Sean Hannity. Talk about a curve-ball, huh?
Hi Will - I didn't see the homophobic stuff, perhaps I was skimming too fast or someone took it off.
Anyway, I agree with defending McCain from being called a traitor, so we are on the same side there. I wish the various candidates would stick to the issues and avoid personal attacks. I think if Obama and McCain end up being the candidates, it may be the case. Hope so anyway. McCain doesn't seem to have much heart for personal attacks himself.
Hi Mauigirl. I think the comments were made on my site. They were making innuendo about me and "Voltron" (whose identity I have no idea, mind you). I see that you post at divinedem and chenoah. So do I. Kind of awkward, huh, in that one supports Clinton and the other Obama? I was a Biden guy myself (which was probably the kiss of death for him, Mr. 1%).
Oh no! not Bidet!!!
As to my identity, I'm a mild mannered draftsman by day, but at night I'm the defender of the Universe of course...LOL
Yeah, I was thinking of a Biden/Hagel unity ticket, with Dick Lugar as Secretary of State. What can I say, there aren't a lot of Eisenhowers around anymore. P.S. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, mind you. Remember that Seinfeld episode?
Hmmm, I should probably state for the record that despite my rather colorful icon, I am straight....
LOL
Not that there's anything wrong with THAT, either. LOL Seriously, though, I was just making fun of them; supposedly enlightened people making fun of gay people. Talk about being full of shit, huh?
