More Perspective on Emissions

China has increased its emissions by approximately 50% over the last seven years. This increase by itself represents as much CO2 emissions as the entire countries of Germany, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, and the United Kingdom COMBINED, and they are literally adding the equivalent of Great Britain's emissions every 9-10 months. The harsh reality here is that even if the West went back to rubbing driftwood together, hunting and gathering, etc., the world would still be increasing its emissions and the only folks who would be worse for ware would be us.

yup...so lets walk around with masks on like they do in Beijing...and that's on a good day.(Smiles.) Maybe there is better example to make the point you are making?

My point was that no matter what we do (and, yeah, our scrubbers are a hell of a lot better than theirs), the planet's emissions are going to continue to go up and if we were actually serious about it we would be building more dams and nuclear facilities and using a lot more natural gas.............And you have to realize that every country has to go through its own decarbonization process. Like in America, we started with wood (a 10:1 carbon to hydrogen ratio), went to coal (4:1), started using more oil (2:1), ditto natural gas (1:2) and then ultimately nuclear which is carbon free. And my suspicion is that the Chinese are still probably better off with the gas masks than they were back in the old days starving to death in the fields.
