In Lieu of the Keystone XL Pipeline
They're gonna sell the oil, and so it's either going to be shipped to us on 1,400 rail cars a day (the rails are already too crammed) or sent in tankers over to China where the refineries are a hell of a lot shittier than ours. Look, I'm saying that the pipeline is a perfect idea, but it's better than the alternatives and when in the hell are we going to stop listening to these radical environmentalists who've taken the precautionary principle to such an ludicrous level? I mean, we're talking about progress here.

IMO, the Keystone deal is overhyped by both sides. It is not
a particular danger to the environment, nor is it a great job creator. Considering the existing pipelines and (as you noted) adequate rail transport, there is no urgent need, and in fact, the rail option offers both
more employment and delivery flexibility. We may be assured that only a few special interests
probably Canadian, would stand to
rake in $$$. Finally, the glut
that has lowered fossil prices is leading to reduced production and layoffs: (so much for competition)tis a boom and bust business.
I agree, both sides have hyped their case during the debate. As for the reduced costs of gas, I'm loving it and investing my cash elsewhere.
