Fiscally Conservative, Socially tolerant, Anti-War
I'm no anti-tax idiot.I believe that cigarettes should be taxed the same, no more and no less, than other goods.
That I could certainly live with.
Cigarettes are like playing Russian roulette with your health as well as a public nuisance. So, tailor made for politicians to target levying heavy taxes on their use. In other words try to tax it into extinction.
Creating a huge black market for the product in the process. Snd more stupid work for law enforcement and the courts.
A total waste of a policeman's time and we all witnessed the unintended consequences.
Sin taxes are much more prevalent in blue states,with some of the highest in N.Y.,California and Washington. Unfortunately high sin taxes affect the lower levels of society.
So, they're not very "progressive", in other words.
Yeah, but at least Washington has no income tax. One of 7 remaining states that don't.
Oh they are progressive in some respects, conservative in others. Like most of us "normal" folks. BTW, I lived in the PN for 17 years.
Correct Lester....but one of the most expensive states to live in. Among the highest in sin tax,gas tax,B&O tax,propert tax and almost a 9% sales tax.
