I'm also concerned about the fact that gun-running may have been going on in Benghazi (CNN's Drew Griffin has done some solid reporting on this) and that some of those weapons may have ended up in the hands of al Qaeda or worse.
Whose rule is remembered by Iranians now for its relative tolerance and enlightenment. The Shah kept the Soviets out at first, and held off the horror of Muslim rule at the end.
And he was one of the rare leaders in that area who wasn't obsessed with realizing the bloody dream of killing off the Jews.
