On the Idiot and Libertarianism

What the idiot fails to comprehend (and this is a long standing problem with the idiot) is that libertarianism, just like with a lot of other things, is a) a continuum (from the moderate policy oriented libertarianism of the Cato Institute to the harder, more doctrinaire, orientation of the Mises and Ayn Rand Institutes) and b) a construct that has a great many permutations to it; neolibertarianism, paleolibertarianism (whose anti-immigration emphasis I fully reject), classical liberalism (insert Amity Shlaes and our colleague, RN), civil libertarianism (which actually includes a fair number of liberals), objectivism, anarcho libertarianism, etc.. I mean, I know that the simpler that person is, the more that this type of individual requires a clear-cut dichotomy, ideal types, etc., just to get frigging by in their life but enough. Enough.

BIG NEWS ABOUT WD

I say a hardy hip hip hooray is in order for WD.

After doing an exemplary job at the fry station (being chosen employee of the month twice)for the past four years WD has been promoted to his life long dream
as assistant manager on the midnight shift.

The Sander's family had a high time celebrating the good news by getting a yummy ice cream cake from Baskin&Robbins and singing a rousing For He's a Jolly Good Fellow.

That was awesome (though I could definitely see how wd wouldn't find you all that funny).

A note to WD: Any attempts to post at my blog that refers to your imaginary man-crush "Dennis" will be summarily ignored: not read. The same goes with the presense of certain other keywords and topics. I am very good at noticing this at a glance, without reading.

If you choose to act like something more than an 11 year old having a tantrum for once....a credit to the human race instead of the pimple on the face of the earth we all expect, I might read it. In other words, grow up. It's behavior modification, people.

Pretty good description of the spread of libertarian types. Do
they all get along?

Oh, there's a huge war between the classical liberals and the paleos when it comes to immigration (Bryan Caplan versus Ilana Mercer) - the latter group almost being xenophobic at times.

Will: And those paleos, I am guessing, have a lot in common with the non-libertarian Nader and Buchanan and Perot etc when it comes to their fear and hatred of foreigners.

I've always said that anything that Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan, Ross Perot, and Jesse Jackson could ultimately agree upon HAS to be wrong.

Well, I think it is fine that every one of these gentlemen refuse to buy goods from Mexico, Japan, etc based on whatever degree and variation of hatred they have for "the other".

I just ask that they do the decent thing and not try to force their personal decisions on anyone else.

The giant sucking sound that Perot heard? It was his trade policy ideas: they sucked big-time.
