A protectionist is an ignorant and arrogant person who is careless about the needs, desires, and lives of others... and presumes to make their personal choices for them.
It is almost a form of sociopath: someone who acts without concern or feeling for others.
The disorder of protectionism is motivated by something that ranges from megalomania (desire to control society) to basic personal selfishness/
It's what tends to happen when insular and crazy individuals educate themselves entirely via the internet.......And these people say that they like consensus. Well, guess what, there is far, FAR, more consensus on free trade among economists (90+%) than there is global warming among scientists (I alone could dictate a list of hundreds of skeptics). That, and it's infinitely more logical, too.
You would think so, considering at least the political blog genre. We may be sure there is some sort of psychology involved, likely the anonymity factor. For example, I have an acquaintance who is both very fundamental religious and very conservative. He writes letters to the editor in the local rag which rank with the worst vitriol I've seen. In person, he is kind, thoughtful and polite. Perhaps the opportunity to vent pent-up anger? (made a few comment myself of which I was not proud)
I know that I'm a much nicer person in person, that's for sure (the fact that I work with Alzheimer's patients while biting my lower lip continuously).
Interesting. Al Gore, the boob who lied that he invented the Internet, and tried to overthrow the actual vote in 2000 due to what must have been some sort of feeling of entitlement, has as his career a combination of 5 or 6 of the psychopath vocations.
And he's not really present in the negative ones ("Nurse Al???")

"So bloggers didn't make the top 10, huh? That surprises me."
He's gone off the rails. But having fun with it. Yeah, I did read one of his missives today. He talked about lotioning up so he could stick his *censored* into something. It's been going on a year now.....
Guy needs a girlfriend, or boyfriend, or whatever.

Unless you write in broad hyperbole, you are looking in the wrong places for the socio/psychopathic types.

They might, if not for comment moderation.
Yeah, that's quite an equalizer.
