On the Fact that the European Union Has a Total GDP that Is Six Times Greater than that of Russia and Yet a Large Number of the Member Countries (Norway, the Baltic States, Poland, etc.) Still Spend Less than 2% of Their GDP on Defense
They must figure that since we're willing to bankrupt our country with wasteful defense spending PROTECTING THEM, there really isn't a necessity for them to do likewise (which of course affords them the opportunity to bankrupt themselves on other items; green energy idiocy, the welfare state, bailouts, etc.).

About 2% seems to be the world norm after the biggies: Israel 5.2%, Russia 4.5%,
US 3.5%, India 2.4%. Germany and China, both larger economies, spend 1.2%. We
suppose they all have their priorities based to some extent on what their citizens
want (and recall what happened to the Soviet Union when they overspent on arms)
Doug Bandow made a great point about our military budget; welfare for NATO he called it.
