To Fight to Save the Union, Jack
I wonder how many folks today would be willing to give up their life in order to prevent Texas (spurred on by right-leaning separatists) or Vermont (spurred on by left-leaning separatists) from seceding from the Union. My suspicion is that it's probably an exceedingly low number and yet this is exactly the same type of bullshit that Lincoln was peddling 150 years ago when he decided to morph into Julius Ceasar (Fidel Castro being a posthumous facsimile)/consolidate federal power well beyond even that which Alexander Hamilton had envisioned....Of course, we could always say that the damn bastards had WMD....

If the damn bastards had WD instead of WMD we'd hurriedly kick the territory out of the US and get a modern Betsy Ross to sew up a nice new 49-star flag.
Or, WMBD. Weapons of Mass Brain Derangement.
It would be "interesting" to see what would really happen if one of those states actually tried to secede rather than just blow hot air about it.
Personally it would set just fine with me if the deep south, and the bible belt all hooked up, declared succession, and the U.S. federal government extended preferred nation status to their new union.
Yeah, I was thinking exactly that, too, dmarks, maybe even have wd alone secede.......I doubt that it'll ever happen, Jerry - just too much hard-core addiction to federal largesse.......That could possibly work, Les, though I must admit that at this point I'd rather see California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico go back to Mexico (we did, after all, steal the damn places).
And might as well rename what remains "Pelosiana".
Oh, I have her going to Mexico, too.
Thanks, RN. Now we know what WD's two middle initials are.
Send Vermont too.
Texas would do even better then it is doing now without the Federal Government restrictions.
If Texas seceded they would have to guard their borders....not from Mexicans but from Americans trying to get there.
Yeah, to be Fair and Balanced I must concede your point. But I can't imagine Mexico at this point wanting Kalifornia back. Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona they would likely love to wecome with open arms.
pelosiana, LMAO dmarks, that's a good one!
I actually go to Vermont a lot (Bennington and Brattleboro are only about 2 hours away and Grafton maybe another hour) and I love it but, yeah, actually living up there, probably not.......New Hampshire, on the other hand, definitely (Keene and Portsmouth are two of the nicer towns in all of New England)!!
Will: The Vermont comment was due to Bernie Sanders being there, the person in Congress who most openly embraces extremist ideology.
And he's considered a moderate up there.
