The Saddest, Most Disgusting/Self-Indulgent Performance in Music History (Or at Least Since Her Last Performance)

What would be my answer to the question, "So, how would you characterize Christina Aguilera's Grammy Awards performance tonight?"

The chick has had her 30 minutes of fame, soon it will be ongoing appearances at some second-rate hotel off the Vegas strip.

Nothing against her, she was just never my style.

I consider her the Bill O'Reilly of song stylists.

I only saw her in the very beginning with the girl group, is that the performance you mean? I like her voice but I hate her over-exaggerating of the words and her mouth. Is that making sense? I hate her hair, the way she dresses, her make-up.....she has put on weight so she should tone herself down so she doesn't resemble a circus clown....she could be a great singer, her voice is super, but just plain 'ole sing will ya!

I think Christina A, along with Mariah Carey, fall into that same category of worn out, over wrought R&B "divas"...a great voice that is hidden with the over done embellishments and opera tricks. If Christina really wanted to turn her career around, she would learn how to sing jazz standards...learn that the subtle, smooth nuances in the voice can translate into the evocative...It would require courage and a few failures to reinvent herself. No doubt she would lose her fan base base but wouldn't it be worth it to salvage some kind of legitimate legacy in the music world??

What people have to realize is that there are thousands of undiscovered stars out there who are just as capable of these same less than meets the eye pyrotechnics. I mean, no, I'm not a musical expert by any means but most of the musicians who I have talked to over the years have told me that it's significantly harder to use restraint and foster subtlety/nuance than it is to show off one's range and ability to project. Personally, if I want tricks, I'll go to the frigging circus.
