My Point?
I guess that I have several of them. a) That this so-called religion of peace isn't necessarily all that peaceful.......b) That I'm sick and tired of us having to apologize for OUR free speech (a frigging comic-strip, for Christ's sakes).......c) That I'm even more sick and tired of the political correctness in which we can't even be critical of the abject antisemitism and subjugation of women and gays that are the absolute routine in most Muslim countries (in England, when an Islamic extremist commits a violent act, the media rarely if ever even mentions that the person is Muslim - they will, however, say that the person is Asian and thereby implicate the much more peaceful Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Jainists, etc.).......d) That the thin-skin and hair trigger response (usually in the form of indiscriminate cruelty) of these Muslims is fully unacceptable and absolutely worthy of condemnation.......e) That the major grievance of these Muslims has absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with human rights or even with territorial claims (as I pointed out in the previous post, the "Palestinians" never once claimed a homeland when Jordan controlled the West Bank and the Egyptians the Gaza Strip). It is ALL about Jew (and to a lesser extent, Christian) hatred, straight up.

Unfortunately, Muhammad, the founder of Islam, personally ordered soldiers to conquer and slaughter, and the big ol' book he wrote commands soldiers that fight in his name rape the wives of the men on the land they conquer.
It is also an inconvenient truth that in his book he boasts of raping a 9 year old girl.
The closer Christians adhere to the real messages of Christ in the New Testament, the more peaceful they would be. The opposite is true for Muhammad's word, as the man was an unabashed warlord steeped in rapine, theft, and conquest and his manifesto demands it.
There are some nasty things in the Bible, too, but, yeah, you're correct, the violent imagery in the Koran is both abominable and plentiful and we in the west should NOT be taking it lightly.
Our bible is pretty violent as well - splitting babies in half, conquering other people, etc. But again, my point is that any literal interpretation of a holy book is wrong. Social mores and attitudes change and using a book that was supposedly written a thousand years ago and applying it to modern society is wrong and delays the progression of the human story. Can we all agree that modern religions just suck and move on?
I'm not a Bible scholar but I don't believe that in any part of it do they advocate the wholesale slaughter of nonbelievers.
