We sure as hell don't figure out which Democrats are crooked via info (in book form) straight from the Conservative spin machine!

I guess Will has never heard of "spin"... and never noticed that two people can take the same data and arrive at completely different conclusions.

I find that quite strange, considering how politically sophisticated he claims to be.

O.K., wd, YOU spin it. A gazillion dollars from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and convalescent homes and, BOOM, just like that, a magical piece of legislation that handsomely rewards each and every one of them. My God, if a Republican had done something like this, you and Olbermann would be in straight-jackets.

And only conservatives spin.

You're the one against single payer! You want to keep health insurance in the private sector!

My question: how much was Will Hart's payoff from the private insurance companies? And, if there was no payoff, how is it that he's just magically supporting the insurance delivery method that will benefit them financially?

Will: And only conservatives spin.

Clearly they're much better at it. You're a prime example of someone who has been fooled by their lies. How many Liberal "spins" has Will embraced? I'd say zero and counting.

Well, I certainly didn't embrace the Reagan is a traitor fantasy.............What I am for or not for misses the point, wd. Obama buried McCain when it came to donations from the health-care sector and then proceeded to not fight ONE IOTA for the public option. The fact that you don't find this at least somewhat curious is astounding. And why in the hell are you always spinning for the President? He's certainly sold you (a progressive) down the river a lot more than he has me (a moderate). Is it simply because he has a D in front of his name?

First, a question: did you support the public option (I'm guessing no).

Second, I was EXTREMELY disappointed he didn't fight for the public option. But, I think he was afraid the insurance industry would spend mucho dinero in ads opposing it... and he decided he'd rather have their support if he could get it. Obviously (to me) he believed there was nothing worth fighting for... if, in the end, the bill didn't pass.

That's what I believe happened. It wasn't about "payoffs" or crony capitalism. It was about passing legislation (legislation that had failed when attempted by the Clinton Administration, and legislation Democrats might not get another crack at for a generation or more if it failed again).

I don't understand why you're finding this so difficult to understand.

Yes, the insurance (and HC related industries) gave him money hoping to influence policy. Yes, he accepted it (because he wanted to win).

Anyway, it was the Democratic Congress that produced the legislation, if you recall. The WH largely stayed out of it (which was another mistake they believed the Clinton Administration made). I blame Conservative Democrats (and Joe Lieberman) more then President Obama.

The Legislation could have been a lot better if not for those a-holes (Ben Nelson).

Will: Is it simply because he has a D in front of his name?

My post criticizing President Obama over his lack of support for the public option: President Obama Mandates Larger Profits for Health Insurance Companies?.

He went from supporting single-payer to not even fighting for the public option, ALL of this after he received gobs of money from health-care special interests. "He'd rather have their support"? Oh, yeah, he got their support alright.............As for the Democrats in the Senate, you might want to follow the money with them, too; Daschle (though, yes, he was gone by then), Baucus, etc.. I think that you'll find a lot of special interest money bankrolling them, too.

I'll tell you what, wd, I probably shouldn't have used the word, "payback". a) Just like you can't read Bush's mind, I can't read Obama's and b) these things are rarely, if ever, THAT blatant. The term that I should have used instead - "undue influence".
