Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" winning the 2007 Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature.
It's a shame Gore was right when he said in his acceptance speech, "My fellow Americans, people all over the world, we need to solve the climate crisis. It's not a political issue; it's a moral issue. We have everything we need to get started, with the possible exception of the will to act..."
There is no will to act... Thanks (in part) to people like Will who are still deeply in denial.

Its a little warm here today,proving Al Gore correct beyond any shadow of doubt.
I aways thought him and his beautiful wife Tipper were the ideal american couple...I still get chills when I see them together holding hands.What a dream paring.

As for the Oscars; the biggest travesty is how they always give an oscar or nomination to practically anything done by the over rated and goofy Woody Allen.
That and Blazing Saddles not winning an Oscar. I will never watch any award show until that despicable overlook is corrected by the Academy.
Russ, what kind of person tries to turn every little blessed thing into a political football/an opportunity for grandstanding. You're pretty good at deconstructing this type of behavior. What do you think?

I think he cannot understand when someone does'nt believe exactly what he does.
I think he's very envious of success.It seems he resents people who've made some serious money,thinking they did something dishonest to get it.
A person of his ilk refuses to acknowledge the failings of socialist governments like Greece,Spain or Portugal instead they will scour the net looking for another reason however silly they may be.
His limited views cant understand how a person like you can be a moderate.In fact I dont think he actually accepts there is such an animal.He knows and accepts there are conservatives like me.He views us as the devil,but the devil he knows.
Damn...I think I just used the two psychology classes I took.
Of course I understand that people have different opinions! What does it say about someone who thinks people who disagree with what they say must be disconnected from reality. To the psychologist in Rusty I say, "heal thyself".

President Obama: "We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by. Or we restore an economy where everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules".
Is the president playing to the typical Liberal who is envious of success?
And he talks about everyone playing by the rules... which begs the question, who hasn't been playing by the rules? Is he implying that people who've made some serious money did something dishonest to get it?
Is this a speech that is going to tee Will off? Sounds like the State of the Union might contain more of the divisive, demagogic and deceptive rhetoric that Will dislikes.
My comment concerned the Oscars. dmarks also made a comment about the Oscars but had nothing to do with Edward G. Robinson. He also referenced a political figure. Yet I notice you admonished me and said nothing about your buddy dmarks' comment. I wonder why...
dmarks comment wasn't a political comment. It was a funny comment about a person who he apparently knows and doesn't harbor ill-will for.............And just for the record, I do believe in global warming. I'm just not completely sold on man being the primary cause. There are a plethora of other possible explanations for the change in temperature; indirect solar forcing, natural climate cycles, oscillations, chaotic variations, etc.. When you couple that with the fact that 95-99% (depending upon whether or not you include water vapor) of all greenhouse gasses are NON man-made and I really think that we need to be cautious before we decide to devastate the entire Western economy. And, you know what, the U.S. Senate apparently agreed with me. What was it, they voted the Kyoto protocol down 95-0?

I guess I started it off with a political comment. But it was less political than you think, and certainly not Moore-bashing.
I asked Moore about this bit and he enthusiastically participated in it.
