The Fact That Madonna's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Jethro Tull Isn't
What would be my answer to the question, "So, what, in your opinion, is the clearest evidence of a disordered universe?"........................................................................................................P.S. This, in that, while, yes, Jethro Tull was at times quite pretentious and odd, their earlier work such as "Locomotive Breath", "Hymn 43", "Teacher", "Nothing is Easy", "Fat Man", and "Living in the Past" were absolute classics AND that, for those songs alone, they thoroughly belong in Cleveland.

Nothing wrong with pretentious music. Progressive rock, like Tull, is the best.
I especially love Tull's early stuff; 1968-1976.
You forgot Aqualung.

I could not name you a single song by Jethro Tull. Of those you name, I can't say I've ever heard any of them... or, if I have (because a radio I was near played one of the), I certainly don't remember.
They are music, wd, and THEY write the songs.
I write the songs: The title has been misunderstood to mean that the singer (or songwriter) "writes the songs", but the actual songwriter, The Beach Boys' Bruce Johnston, has stated that the "I" in the song is "God". He went on to say that songs come from the spirit of creativity in all of us [from Wikipedia].
I doubt Jethro Tull is any good. It isn't the case that I've simply never heard of them, and if they were any good I probably would have taken notice.
I wonder if any members of Jethro Tull ever heard of the outstanding blogger WD,whose own outstanding blog I plan on visiting very soon.Outstanding,just outstanding.
Hey Will,speaking of classic British groups.Last night we had some friends over for drinks and we were playing some of Procol Harum's stuff.
I was never a fan of the so-called British Invasion groups,but some of the progressive groups were quite good...The Moody's,Cream,Pink Floyd,Led Zep...their stuff is still relevant today.
Procol Harum - "Whiter Shade of Pale". Great song, Robin Trower on lead guitar......Yeah, a lot of awesome British bands; the Yardbirds, the Animals, Yes, The Who, in addition to those that you just mentioned.
Procul Harem only had the one outstanding song whereas Whirling Dervish had had numerous outstanding posts and innumerable outstanding comments.
WD: despite my teasing I do hold you in high regard. It's because of this I think I can ask you a personal question.
How in the name of God have you never heard of Jethro Tull? I don;t know a soul who doesn't wait for the line "got him by the balls"
to be delivered before speaking.
There is a life outside of your outstanding Sleeping With the Devil buddy.
In wd's defense, Truth, he is kind of young and the best of Tull was probably released before he was even born. That, and he apparently admires the hell out of Barry Manilow.
