Happy "Turkey"day, Randy

I'm normally not a big believer in Karma, folks. But what has happened this year to Randy Edsall and the University of Maryland football team seems pretty damn close. For those of you who haven't followed it, Mr. Edsall abruptly quit his job (head football coach) at the University of Connecticut at the end of last season's bowl game (the Fiesta Bowl versus Oklahoma), not even having the decency to say goodbye to his players. This, while at the same time, Maryland unceremoniously fired their longtime and respected coach, Ralph Friedgen - this, after he had just been named ACC coach of the year! The fact that this Terps squad is struggling mightily this year, both on the field (a 2-9 record) AND on the recruiting trail (Marchez Coates, the second best defensive back in the state of Maryland recently gave a verbal commitment to N.C. State, for example), seems MORE than a little bit ironic/just to me.................................................................................................P.S. What made the situation even more "comical" was the fact that James Franklin, Maryland's offensive coordinator and "coach in waiting", simply got disgusted waiting and bolted. He's now the head coach at Vanderbilt and even that longtime doormat program is outperforming Maryland; 5 victories and a bushel-full of rock-solid recruits for next year. OOPS!!

Will: Edsall jumped at a chance to coach his dream job...he grew up in the area and has family there. Cynics will point out that Edsall jumped ship cause he knew that all the conference reallignment crap was about to happen...I try to remember the good stuff and hope UCONN's football program has better day days...Still I cant help but snicker when I consider what is going through Terapin fans heads right now...

Note to WD: I get it it...you don't like sports. Feel free not to comment...save your efforts for political debate.

Marcus, I read where one blogger said, "So, why exactly did we fire Friedgen again?" And, yes, this was one of the nice comments!

Note to Marcus: I do feel free to not comment, but choose TO comment. You got a problem with that?

In any case, my effors are saved. Typing "who?" took very little effort (and I also only read the first sentence of Will's post, so virtually no effort expended there).

Note to Marcus 2: I also did not read what you wrote, but only scanned it... and noticed your "note to WD".

WD

When Will writes a post about sports I ussually see "zzzzz" or other "comments" that are indicative of non interest. I see your latest, i.e., "Who?" as just more of the same...If you aren't interested, why bother?? Knock your self out if that's what you want...

Lets see....watch the LSU/Arkansas game today or listen to an out dated movie score.....hmmm,damn though choice....I think I'll go with the game.

Hey, guys, maybe we could get him to watch a halftime show. Something with Barry Manilow, perhaps.

Hey, Russ, final stats on Case Keenum; 342-467 4,726 yards 43 touchdown and only 3 interceptions. I mean, I know that he only plays in Conference USA and all but, still, he's gotta get a little consideration for the Heismann, no?............Oh, and his team is 12-0, to boot.

Rusty Shackelford said...

You make a good point with Keenum Will, but he makes me think about Andre Ware the last Heismann winner from Houston.Similar stats against similar opponents.Keenum and the kid from Boise put up big numbers against some teams who would have a difficult time beating some AAA high school teams from either Florida or Texas.

It would be interesting to see what Case would do against the defenses from LSU or Alabama.

I've been listening to the score from An Inconvenient Truth by Michael Brook. A recent movie that is not "outdated".

Anyway, it appears to me that Will is the one who is into old movies. I don't know why he doesn't take offense to the films he loves (featuring the women he likes to objectify) being called "outdated".

Will seems to be a man in full WD.A person with many intrest...unlike yourself WD,unlike yourself.

I've never published a list of my interests here. Rusty says I don't have "many interests" just because I don't like sports? What a dope.

WD,I was just pointng out your envy of Will.It really is quite blatent in you postings attacking him.

Will seems to be a man of varied interests, while your only mission in life is your contrariness and I think that irks you to no end.
You seem perfectly content to spend days on end posting on subjects that 99.9% of americans could'nt give a flying fuck about, yet in your small world they take on monumental proportions.Yet when Will changes the blogs tone to one of his other interests such as sports or classic movies....subjects that dont fit in your narrow sphere you feel compelled to sarcasm.
Yes WD,you are a small person.

Russ, he's going to think that I paid you for that, you know?............P.S. In defense of Andre Ware, back when that dude was playing, Houston was in the Southwestern Conference. So, he had to put up those numbers against the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, etc.. But, yeah, I agree with you, as a pro, he was a TOTAL bust.

Point well taken Will.Should I be expecting an honorarium?

We can negotiate. Hey, did you happen see that Florida-Florida State game? Talk about some ugly, huh?

Rusty Shackelford said...

I watched about 10 minutes of the FSU/Gators game...saying it was ugly is being kind.I did watch The Old Ball Coach put an old fashioned ass kicking on Clemson and tried to watch a bit of Andrew Luck slicing up Notre Dame.

I'm a little bit mixed on the hype Andrew Luck is getting....he's very good,no doubt about it,but the second coming of John Elway...I think the jury is way out on that.

Another extremely stupid comment from Rusty (most are). What is it exactly that I "envy" about Will? If it's so blatent you'd think I'd know what it was exactly. Do I secretly wish I were more moderate?

I think it's more likely that Rusty is envious of me. I'm able to put together a cogent argument while all he can do is lob ridiculous ad hominems (often with misspellings and grammatical errors).
