Larger Than Effing Life!

I'm serious, folks. Mr. Lancaster's performances in "Elmer Gantry", "Birdman of Alcatraz", "From Here to Eternity", "Sweet Smell of Success", "Seven Days in May", "Atlantic City", and, yes, even "The Rainmaker", are as mesmerizing as acting can get....If only the stars of our generation could fill up the screen like that....You might even get me to the movies!

I mainly know him as Moonlight Graham from "Field of Dreams"

Field of Dreams is one of the stupidest movies ever made. I couldn't watch the whole thing due to it's being incredibly boring/ridiculous/dumb.

I have not seen any of the other movies you list... except for portions of Elmer Gantry and Birdman of Alcatraz. I do, however, own the soundtracks from Atlantic City, Birdman of Alcatraz, Elmer Gantry, Sweet Smell of Success and The Rainmaker... as well as Field of Dreams (despite it being one of the dumbest movies ever made).

Once again I agree 100% with WD.To me there's nothing like sitting down with a glass of Manischewitz Concord Grape and listening to a good movie soundtrack.Talk about heaven.

Hey, Russ. You know how wd always makes fun of MY interests; sports, classic cinema (babes, in particular), the music that I like, etc.? Yeah, well, guess what? I'm not going to respond to him in kind. I think that the guy should do whatever it takes for him to be fulfilled, even if it literally means listening to and agreeing with Keith Olbermann.

Will I made fun of you for none of those things. I just voice my opinion on them when you blog about them... I thought was how this blogging thing worked.

The blogger states his or her opinion and those who comment share their opinion on the topic. Are you only looking for comments from people who agree with you?

Also, as a fan of these films, I thought MAYBE you be interested in other things connected with them... like the film score on CD. I guess you're just a person who makes up their mind about new things, ideas, etc. quickly...

Actually I have been trying to bait you into saying something negative in reaction to my comments. Rusty did a good job taking the bait... come on Will, don't you have anything negative to say about my interests? I can take it.

BTW Keith Olbermann's new program on Current TV starts THIS coming Monday... mark your calendars!

You mocked me for having an interest in classic film actresses.......And I think that it's great that you have at least some interest in the genre (an aspect of it anyway).

Will: You mocked me for having an interest in classic film actresses.

I wouldn't do that! Actually I applaud your interest in classic film actresses. You have mighty fine taste...

FYI, in addition to being a collector of film scores on CD, I also sell them. You can find me on Amazon here, on eBay here, and you can buy from me directly (at a discount) here.

Do you sell movies, too? I buy a lot of stuff (books and movies, mostly) from the Amazon marketplace.

The best film scores are those by Maurice Jarre, Philip Glass, and Mike Oldfield.

And I love "Field of Dreams" and have seen it many times, and have even visited the actual ballfield.

Sorry Will, I only sell film scores. When movies are released they usually aren't limited editions... and therefore they don't "sell out" and the price doesn't go up.

Films on DVD usually decrease in value pretty quickly. I used to buy movies on DVD and pay full price. That was dumb. I wish I had the money back that I foolishly overpaid. It would be hundreds of dollars... at least.

I avoid buying DVDs now.

I stopped buying CDs years ago when the big recording labels got the government to censor NAPSTER.

Napster, which I mainly used to download music (out of print, bootlegs) that the recording industry didn't even want any money for.
