Newt Galento?

Can somebody please explain to me why Newt Gingrich is still in the race? I mean, seriously. The dude's campaign is in total shambles. And he never really had a chance anyway!!! I, personally, only think of two possibilities here. One is that the guy is completely delusional. The other is that, while, yes, he may in fact BE delusional, he also looks around him and sees that there aren't really any other majorly strong contenders. He's thinking in terms of a puncher's chance, in other words. Me - I'm kind of leaning toward the former.

He thinks it will raise his profile and he'll be able to charge more for his books and speaking fees afterward. Also, he'll be able to continue duping people with his fake "I might run for president" scam. My guess is that (after he drops out) he'll say he might run again in the future (and continue collecting donations).

How long can you say you might run for president and not actually do it? Now he can point to the fact that HE DID. And the scam continues...

Money and he likes the attention...kind of like Sarah.

WD's got it. It's one of those fake vanity campaigns. Not only that, they can use tricks to pocket the campaign contributions as personal riches. Sharpton's been doing this kind of thing for years.

Off topic question, Will.

WD said: "Will is virulently anti-union"

Was this a valid claim?

Or are you like me, and believe unions should be treated like other political pressure and special interest groups (the aforementioned NRA, ACLU, etc), none of which have laws which mean that most of their membership is there against their will, and none of which have laws which force other parties to negotiate with them.

Which is it Will?

wd and Jerry - I guess that money and attention trump dignity on this one.............I'm not a big fan of unions, dmarks. I don't think that public sector unions should be able to bargain for anything other than wages and safety. As for private sector unions, I agree with you that a person should be able to opt out if they'd prefer to. A business ISN'T a country and a union shouldn't be able to dictate how the owner associates with other folks....Part of these feelings no doubt come from personal experience. At the facility I currently work in, the union tried to take over, and they were utterly obnoxious about it. A lot of people signed those stupid cards just to stop the torture. To make a long story short, we voted them down.

Newt has run several scams since he left office in disgrace back in 1998.

American Solutions for Winning the Future is his fundraising group that creates image money for Newt his "2010 Champions of Medicine." scam;

It will cost you $5000 if you are a doctor to get an invite and an award from Newt Gingrich.

A version of another scam he has run;

You know the one where he got caught offering a strip club owner a meal date and the claim of being "2009 Entrepreneur of the Year." for a mere $5000 donation to Newts money scamming operation.

In fact he actually tried again in 2010 with the very same strip club owner.

This isn't his only PAC gaffe.

IE This David Frum quote;

The charity, Renewing American Leadership, not only featured Gingrich on its website and in fundraising letters, it also paid $220,000 over two years to one of Gingrich’s for-profit companies, Gingrich Communications. It purchased cases of Gingrich’s books and bought up copies of DVDs produced by another of the former House speaker’s entities, Gingrich Productions.

That is a much more lucrative business for Gingrich.

Getting dupes to donate to his PAC then using his for profit business to launder the money to his pockets.

His campaign like Sarah's bus trips ET AL are all about getting the money in their pockets not about actually winning the office, which because or rules would stop their grafting and grifting off the dupes who believe they are about anything but money.

Want proof;

Newt Gingrich’s political action committee has raised a paltry $53,000 so far this year, according to the latest FEC numbers, and Politico sees that as a troubling sign for the would-be candidate. Sure, Gingrich’s 527 group American Solutions for Winning the Future has pulled in tens of millions, but it’s not regulated by the FEC, and hence can accept huge contributions.

The PAC by contrast can only accept individual contributions of up to $5,000—and his eventual presidential committee will be limited to half that. During the campaign, Gingrich won’t be able to access funds from either the PAC or his 527. Still, the PAC’s numbers aren’t quite as bad as they look—bear in mind that Gingrich stopped raising money for it in the middle of March, after forming his presidential exploratory committee.

from here

The Newt Gingrich empire includes Gingrich Productions, the Gingrich Group, Gingrich Holdings and Gingrich Communications. Where a good proportion of his public funded 527 pac moneys gets washed legally into his pockets. (IE American Solutions for Winning the Future, Renewing American Leadership (ReAL).

Newt like Palin is in it for the money, LOTS of money much more then they even legally earned while in office. His campaign like sarah's bus trip is to keep their mugs on the MSM so the dupes will keep donating to their grifter scams.

He (or his wives anyway) seem to have a very strong hankering for the sparkly stuff. That in fact could explain some of it.
