There is the Georgia of rednecks packing heat (in the heat) and there is the Georgia that gave birth to Joe Stalin. The latter is crawling with Chechens..you know, the guys that bombed the Boston Marathon. Both Georgias are quite similar, IMO.
BB: I know, I know. I was just tossing some red meat to Capt. Canardo so he can make a few thousand-word blog posts about how I don't know of former Soviet Georgia :)
Georgia (U.S.) isn't the Georgia of 150 or even 50 years ago, BB. It, just like the rest of the country (Indiana and Illinois let black people live there now, right?), has changed and changed significantly.
As for other "quality of life" issues in general, the most accurate indicator of this is what state people choose (avoids cherry-picked polls and questions).
And looking at population change in the last decade, Georgia comes out favorably. Even better than Massachusetts, which gets trumped up as some sort of paradise too often.
This map rather deflates the narrative about awful life is in "red states". I've even seen people on the Left bash these states because (supposedly) more poor people are in them. I guess they would rather the states kick the poor people out or kill them off in order to improve their standings. ---------------- BB: Former Soviet Georgia "Crawling with Chechens"? According to information on refugees, there are 4000 Chechens in Georgia. That's a tiny fraction of the 4.5 million population there. Chechens don't even rank in the top 12 ethnic groups in that nation. Not really "crawling with", BB?
I did notice when looking this up that the population in Euro Georgia has gone down since 2000. The opposite of what happened in US Georgia.
This makes Euro Georgia more like the US state of Michigan, with its blue-state governor Jennifer Granholm (D) causing a population loss during the same period.

The statistics compiled on Massachusetts are not "trumped up." They are facts. It's the best educated state and it has the lowest number of citizens who lack health care coverage. Those are two of many items that contribute to people's well-being. Massachusetts does a really good job in those two areas. The southern states do not.

Statements of fact are considered "bashing" to those who dislike reality. I did not do the research which, in survey after survey, comes up with the same results: The southern states have the greatest number of citizens in poverty and the highest index of misery, the worst educated population, and the highest number of uninsured.
If one weren't so offended by facts, one would understand that a quality education and affordable health care coverage are items that benefit a population. Southern states do poorly in those two areas.

No. The citizens of those states should kick out the terrible politicians who keep their own citizens uninsured, underinsured, and ignorant.

Might save Atlanta from being burned again, though. He might be onto something.

There is at least who does BB Idaho.

And weren't most of the race riots up north, too?
Will: Check this map.
Georgia had a riot 108 years ago.

Interesting population map. Nevada far and away the biggest
population gain, around 30%. I'm thinking it was the bunch that
went to the Bundy Ranch.
"Georgia had a riot 108 years ago."
That's really commendable, except this happened in 1946.
