On Why I Voted For Obama in 2008

There were two reasons, basically. a) I didn't think that Mr. McCain was fit/stable enough to be commander in chief and b) I had truly thought by then that Mr. Obama was much more of a Truman/Kennedy/Clinton Democrat than he was a Wilson/Roosevelt/Johnson Democrat. Looking back on it with hindsight, I stand by the former but, yeah, on the latter I was majorly off.

Any thoughts on what McCain's cabinet would have looked like?

Obama's too much of a hawk for me, BB. Can you even begin to imagine what my response to McCain (who I very much DID like in 2000) would be?

Six of one......half a dozen of another.

I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't have had anyone as bad as Eric Holder though.

History, although hindsight, ought to advise us on what not to do and thereby helpimg us with prescribing for the present and future.

If I had been old enough to vote then and had your type of reasoning, I would have voted for Obama too. The fearmongering over his birth certificate and Marxism didn't fool anyone with a brain and it was obviously another example of when ideology blocks reality.

Russ, I almost did what you did and voted for Barr. The dude at the very least was solid on civil liberties.......Dmarks, can you imagine if, instead of Holder and Geithner, the President had nominated Jim Webb and Erskine Bowles? It might have been a whole different Presidency and quite possibly a successful one.......I hear ya', Les, and that is exactly why I voted for Johnson this time.......Roberto, just like there was Bush Derangement Syndrome, so, too, there is an Obama Derangement Syndrome. I've personally tried to steer clear of such things but we all have had our moments, I'm sure.

I rather doubt Bowles is a tax cheat like Geithner is.

Great message he sent, being head of Treasury... "I want you to pay all your taxes, but I don't have to".

Just like Holder hasn't any sort of high ground on gun control since he was involved in supplying "assault weapons" to Mexican drug gangs.
