On Limiting the Number of Rounds Per Magazine

a) It takes approximately 1.2 seconds to change a magazine and b) 10 round magazines might actually be more dangerous in that they jam far less frequently.

Perhaps we should eliminate magazines?

We could try it, Jerry. Just don't expect the criminals to adhere to it.

There's a reason criminals are called criminals...but the object is not to completely eliminate crime.

The gun ban in Chicago was followed by an increase in murder. Not that there is a causal effect, mind you, but you know that the gun control advocates, had the correlation been to their advantage, would have been lightning to underscore it .

Limit magazine rounds. Five to eight should be more than enough for hunters.

Background checks for criminal behaviour AND mental illness needs review and strengthening. Increae waiting periods. Sale of firearms restricted or prohibited at gun shows.

Talk with each other rather than at each other. Left take note. Right, respond responsibly to reasonable suggestions from the left. On these I ain't holding my breathe. After what's going on at PE I hold little hope of reasonable dialog on a macro basis. Jerry and Will, you are among the reasonable and non agenda driven. Other than to find a workable solution. To bad more aren't like you.

Those are reasonable requests, Les. I would also add that I disagree with the NRA in their attempts to make it easier to get a carry permit. Right to carry is an important constitutional right but we need to make sure that the loonies don't slip through (though we still have to be aware here that most of the criminals still purchase their weapons illegally and that isn't likely to change) in the process.
