In the Interesting/Did You Know? Category 8
That, according to a variety of sources (whistleblowers.org, Democracy Now!, Jake Tapper of ABC News, economist Anthony Gregory), Mr. Obama has invoked the Espionage Act more frequently than all of his predecessors COMBINED?............Is it my imagination or is this President starting to sound more and more like a certain fellow from Texas?

Don't you think you should check into WHY he is invoking the Espionage Act before disparaging him?
Same way I that should ask WHY he's continuing with rendition and WHY he's expanded the drone program into 4 countries (lying about Yemen) now and WHY he's continued with warrantless wire-taps and WHY he's conjured up some sort of "kill list" and WHY he's tripled the troop levels in Afghanistan?
This flushes it out a little bit more, Jerry - http://www.whistleblower.org/press/press-release-archive/2012/1892-obama-indicts-sixth-whistleblower-under-the-espionage-act
Quote from your reference:
"It is outrageous that John Kiriakou – the whistleblower – is the only individual to be prosecuted in relation to the Bush administration's torture program."
Perhaps he should be using the Act more, not less.
But not against whistle-blowers who are acting as a disinfectant against an out of control federal government.......Come on, Jerry. If Bush had been doing this you'd be mad and you'd be justified.
In my humble opinion I think whistle-blowers are one of the lowest entities on the food chain, they are slime, muck and fecal matter.....I'm just saying.
I agree Will. I think that in general he should not be using it against whistle blowers. BUT, what do you do when legitimate classified information is released by a whistle blower? (And by legitimate I mean information that really needs to be kept classified, and I am not saying that this was the case in the example sited above.)
Rusty: What is bad about them?
The problem with whistle-blowers, just like snitches they can't be trusted. Just saying...
And something about axe grinding...
Russ, it was whistle-blowers who blew open Fast and Furious and watertboarding but Jerry is right. Some stuff needs to remain classified and what to do with those whistle-blowers does get a little bit dicier.
99% of whistle blowers are for revenge or they are a disgruntled present or former employees.....when they say they are doing it for humanity or safety they are full of shit....I'm just saying.
True story....a few years ago we demoted an employee out of a job we eliminated. He began reporting safety issues to OSHA.After about 10 OSHA inspections from which we were never once cited OSHA rightfully got tired of this idiot.
Karma made an appearence about two months later when during a pest control inspection of employee lockers illegal drugs were found in this fellows jacket,in his locker.....funny how shit like that happens.
I don't know about the 99% figure but, yeah, I'm sure that for every Deep Throat you've got one of those morons that you just described.
You'll never change my mind on this one Will.Whistle blowers are gutless.
So, those ATF agents who witnessed thousands of AK-47s traipsing over the border into Mexico should have swallowed their whistle, Russ? Come on, you know that this has to be judged on a case by case basis.
If they were such hero's why did'nt they step up and raise their hands while it was happening?
I have no respect for anyone who was either involved or had knowledge of an incident yet waited until the fecal matter hits the fan to step foward.....in my opinion its gutless to blow a whistle after the fact.
If they hadn't have blown the whistle, it still might be happening as we speak. And they did speak up while it was happening.
