Reasons to Vote For Obama Over Romney - My Perspective

a) Romney would probably be an even bigger crony capitalist.............b) Court appointments - While I doubt that Mr. Romney would throw another Antonin Scalia at us, I also doubted that Bush 1 would throw a Clarence Thomas at us. You just never know, essentially.............c) Mr. Obama is significantly stronger on gay rights (it took him a while but he eventually got there).............d) While both men are reckless internationalists, my suspicion is that Mr. Obama is a little less reckless.............e) While I'm not completely sure that I trust either of these fellows, again, I give the slight edge to Obama.............f) An overall Republican tendency to treat the defense budget as a sacred cow.............g) A seeming unwillingness on Romney's part to even look at revenues.............h) The fact that Mr. Romney will seemingly do or say anything in order to get people to like him.............i) I'd rather have a beer with Mr. Obama.

j. Romney does not drink beer on religious grounds. What's up with that? Hell, even Jesus turned water into wine.

I don't even think that Mormons drink coffee, Jerry. No coffee and no beer, damn.

Jerry Critter said...

No, they don't. It's the caffeine. they don't drink coke either.

But making 10 thousand dollar bets is perfectly fine. Also, it doesn't mean you're rich. At least Ann Romney doesn't consider it so. Also, remember that 300k for speaking fees isn't that much money, so 10k is obviously equivalent to pocket change. You could probably find twice as much under the couch cushions in one of the many rooms of one of their multiple mansions.\

But I should stop, or else I may be chastised by Will for being jealous.

One reason to NOT vote for either,

Neither can be trusted.

Vote Gary Johnson... Change means not repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

That is, I believe, the definition of insanity.

wd, a person's financial wealth and how they spend it is as far off my radar as it can be. It's obviously front and center for you.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

Les, I'm taking a good long look at Johnson, too. The dude's for cutting military spending, reducing our military footprint worldwide, and legalizing marijuana. He's also pro-choice for the first 2 trimester, and I actually kind of like his idea of block-granting a lot of these entitlements back to the states. Obama, no, I'm not really liking him all that much these days. He's a crony capitalist who likes to drop bombs, essentially.

Gary Johnson is a Libertarian. A "survival of the fittest" world where everyone greedily is concerned only for themselves and cheers when those of us who make bad choices suffer... it's not for me. I don't apologize for being a compassionate Liberal.

Insanity, in my opinion, is flip flopping between two extremes (or between reasonableness and extremism). It's time to get rid of as many Republicans as possible and replace them with as many REAL Democrats as possible.

Fortunately Gary Johnson doesn't have a chance.

Also, my comment was more about Romney's out-of-touchness and his gaffes (and his wife's gaffes) concerning his wealth. That *IS* front and center for me. The guy would be the president of the 1 percent and the rest of us would be screwed. But apparently Will likes getting screwed by the 1 percent.

Dervish Sanders said...

Gary Johnson would be a 1 percent president as well.

dmarks said...

In order to win election, Johnson would have to become at least a 40% President.

dmarks said...

"The guy would be the president of the 1 percent"

This needs a major fact check. You are off by 4500%, that is how far off you are. No connection to reality. According to Gallop, Romney represents the interest of 45% of voters, not 1%.

Of course, I am looking at how an informed electorate accurately perceives their own interest, as opposed to someone who has no idea about others lives making a wild guess as to what is good for them. My way is a lot less arrogant.

The Supreme Court is more powerful than any other branch of government. Voting for any democrat is justified by the fact that the next president may control the face of the Supreme Court for the next 30 years, and with it, the face of the nation.

Dervish Sanders said...

I stand by my comment regardless of dmarks' "major fact check". Anyone who isn't wealthy and votes for Romney... it's because they've allowed the wool to be pulled over their eyes.

He can stuff his claims of arrogance. We all want our candidate to win because we believe his agenda is the better one. Does dmarks live in a fantasy world where all one has to do is believe in a political ideology strongly enough and it will work for the believer?

Obviously not, otherwise when I advocate for single payer he would not strongly object. In his arrogance he thinks he knows what is best for me. What a dope.

Also, I agree with John Myste 1000 percent.

wd, if you're having trouble getting health-coverage, I have no problem with the government helping you. I just don't want your situation to screw up the freedom and choices that the rest of have earned and are happy with. The bottom-line, Clyde - you really need to get your nose out of the rest of lives and businesses. ASAP.

And only folks screwing me right now, wd, are the frigging taxmen.

Jerry Critter said...

How is the tax man screwing you? Taxes are at historic lows. Nobodynisnbeing screwed by taxes.

I know my life better than dmarks, yet he arrogantly tells me I'm wrong for wanting single-payer. He arrogantly explains to me why it would be bad, as if I'm not making an informed decision.

And then he has the arrogance to tell me I'm arrogant for voicing my opinion on why people who might vote for Romney are wrong. Frankly, I find his arrogance astounding.

Dervish Sanders said...

Where did dmarks' comment go? He must have realized how arrogant it was, which explains why he deleted it.

I did not notice a misspelled word. Also, I don't engage in spelling flames. That is a lie.

I'm very happy to know the economy will recover after the next election. Because, it does not matter who is elected, seeing as everyone is right. And we'll all get ponies too, right?

Sure. dmarks, the person who's opinion is incorrect here is yours.

dmarks, you are either lying or stupid. If we take it for granted that everyone here wants the economy to improve, then some of us HAVE to be wrong in our selection of presidential candidate.

The Democratic and Republican candidate have OPPOSED viewpoints on what to do to improve the economy. They are not BOTH right.

So how the hell is it "arrogant" if I say those selecting Romney (if they want prosperity like me) are wrong? (rhetorical question: it isn't).

You're a stupid lying hypocrite. Sorry for being so blunt, but I'm getting really sick of this inane "arrogant" argument of yours.

“Well, look, either you’ll have an extremist conservative, be it Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which of the two comes in,” he (Soros) said. “If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them.”
