On the Fact that (According to Countless Historians; DiLorenzo, Bethell, Walton, Rockoff, etc.) Even Though the Tidewater Region of Virginia Provided the Early Settlers of Jamestown Incredible Soil for Planting, an Extraordinary Amount of Game for Hunting, and Some of the Best Fishing Waters On the Continent, 66 of the Original 104 Succumbed to Starvation Inside of Seven Months
Yeah, this had a tremendous amount to do with the communal arrangement of the colony in that it led to malingering, laziness, etc. among certain members with the end-result of course being a massive shortage of food. Thankfully the policy finally shifted to one of private ownership where each man was provided three acres of land and allowed make a profit and the colony benefitted as a whole...……….Now if we could only get Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren to think like this, we'd be golden!!
