I Knew Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan Was a.....

A lot of people have tried to equate Sarah Palin with Ronald Reagan. I don't know, maybe it has to do with the fact that they're both conservative and, yeah, have/had a fair degree of charisma, too. But, really, think about it. Once in fact you peel away at the bulk of this exterior, is it really a comparison that makes a lot of sense? Reagan, whatever you have to say about his politics, his record, etc., was an extremely intelligent man. He was 1) a voracious reader and 2) a person quite capable of critical thought (yes, of which he utilized to create his own personal world view). Palin (while not necessarily the imbecile she's constantly made out to be) - she, on the other hand, has shown us, the public, precious little. I mean, I still can't believe that she wants to be President!..................................................................................................And, really, if in fact she truly does respect Reagan/his legacy, what a better way to prove it than by stepping aside. Yes, me-buckos, even metals such as nickel tarnish eventually.

There is really no comparisson, Reagan was a much more intelligent person...now that I have been nice to him, let me tell you the truth...he is personally responsible for the deaths and disfigurement of millions of Americans...him and Rumsfeld...

"In 1981, the newly appointed FDA Commissioner, Arthur Hull Hayes, ignored the negative ruling and approved aspartame for dry goods. As recorded in the Congressional Record of 1985, then CEO of Searle Laboratories Donald Rumsfeld said that he would "call in his markers" to get aspartame approved. Rumsfeld was on President Reagan's transition team and a day after taking office appointed Hayes. No FDA Commissioner in the previous sixteen years had allowed aspartame on the market. "

Because these guys got this poison approved, millions every year are being poisoned...ever wonder why we are getting more cancers, diabetes, ADD, and all those other strange diseases? This is why.

They are legal murderers...look up the effects of Aspartame bro...it will shock you...

This will get me in trouble but Reagan was a very intelligent man and a great president. What people tend to forget is that these guys are just men and can not bring about utopia or solve all problems and in fact cause huge problems themselves in the course of fighting another.

Johnson was a huge liberal who brought about many good things to fight poverty and help those suffering form century old prejudices even though he himself was an old bigot in many ways. But his big screw up was throwing us into Vietnam bringing about the deaths of 59,000 Americans and untold deaths of Vietnamese.

I will have to say Reagan handled the decline and fall of the Soviet Union as skillfully as anyone could have done. Yeah, Gorby wanted to play ball but he was the rider of a dinosaur that eventually tried to buck him and bring back the Cold War. I firmly believe that if you had changed a few events the missiles could have very well been launched and we would be in a whole different position.

Okay, for any liberals upset yes, there were other factors but its hard to argue with the overall but imperfect success.

No trouble from me BB,

Don't forget though that Johnson couldn't have passed civil rights without the Republicans in congress.

Most Dems voted no.

Hey Teeluck,

Look up "Junk Science"...

Teeluck, aspartame? That's Nutrisweet, right? Yeah, I never trusted that crap (none of those other phony sweeteners, either). Why it's still on the market, I'll never know.

And Teeluck, you probably put worse into your body at some point.

Think back during high school or college. You must have had at least ONE friend who said "Better living through chemistry!" before convincing you to ingest something you shouldn't have.

(and not remembering it afterwards doesn't count...)

I've been wondering why one of my neighbors kids has an extra eye in the middle of his forehead and the other one has flippers not hands.Their damn mother had a diet coke in her hand all the time.

All the while I thought they were aliens for the planet Mongo.

Aspartame....go figure.

My views on Reagan, double b and Volt, are that he's probably the quintessential mixed-bag president. This, in that I give him high marks for leadership, arms-control, the fall of the Soviet empire, and a strong economy. The bad notches were the Iran-Contra affair, the savings and loan debacle, the Lebanon fiasco (in that case McCain was right and Reagan wrong), and the massive deficits. If I had to grade him overall, I would probably say B-.

You're right, Volt, it's probably a very low risk addative. My gut feeling, though, is why risk it at all. And, plus, that after-taste is DISgusting! Just give me little sugar, bro!

IrOnY RaGeD said...

BTW Will,

No comments on your postings at the other place.

Maybe you've given them a case of the vapors or something...LOL

IrOnY RaGeD said...

Yeah Will, I'm not big on the after taste either.

I did once get an odd feeling after drinking some iced tea with it, but the amounts of iced tea I drink put me on par with lab rats...

I'm thinking anything is dangerous if you have someone inject you with it 6 times your body weight daily for several years.

Evidently an admission that I at least try to be fair is not something that they're capable of.

IrOnY RaGeD said...

And CC?,

I know your neighbors.

They ARE aliens.

Well it looks like after tonight we're no longer a free people.

Welcome to the USSA.

None of these studies ever seem to be conclusive. Whether they're studying this stuff, the vaccines, cell-phones, aluminum (in your deodorant), teflon, etc.. I think that you probably nailed it about right. Avoid the overload and you'll probably be just fine.

I didn't much care for this bill, either, Volt. My preference would have been to institute vouchers, open up purchasing across state lines, and, yes, have a stronger regulatory framework for pre-existing conditions, etc.. Oh, and, yeah, a little tort reform probably wouldn't have hurt, either.

IrOnY RaGeD said...

From what I'm reading, the amendment to "fix" the problems in the senate bill is probably dead on arrival.

What Obeyme is going to sign is the original senate bill that nobody wants.

It may not happen tomorrow or next week, but this will mean a slow death for insurance companies. When they're gone then we'll have the public option.

After that the government will be able to regulate every aspect of your life. After all, what DOESN'T affect your health in some way?

I'm seriously thinking of retiring to one of the former soviet bloc countries.

For the most part they seem to be embracing democracy even more than we are.

Planning a trip to Prague next spring. From what I'm reading the Czech Republic looks nice.

IrOnY RaGeD said...

And I really like their current President...LOL

I agree Will about what you say about Reagan, but really they are all a mixed bag in many respects.

The job is just too damn big and you will always have a couple of million people pissed at you.

Commander Zaius said...

Voltron, with all due respect don't hug that banner about democrats opposing civil right too tightly and repubs voting for it back in the 60's, at the time the South was democrat and those people opposing civil rights switched to the republican side in the 80's.

Oh, wait a minute, Volt. You're referring to that Israel piece over at Vig's. I get it now (duh!). No, no response.
