Apparently, the voices speaking to him were milder than the very bloodthirsty demons that drove Lenin and Trotsky to make the final Czar's rule seem relatively benign.
The real irony here is that if it wasn't for the rank stupidity of Nicholas (and ultimately Kerensky) to get his country involved in WW1, the Bolsheviks probably never would have ascended to power (the fact that the war caused unbelievable chaos, dislocations, etc.) in the first place.......The law of unintended consequences yet again.
