I agree, cap & trade is a dumb idea. It goes back to the old EPA
process of selling pollution credits among high toxic waste companies: exceed a goal, and sell your credit to some company that cannot meet it- expensive, inefficient carrot motivation.
I would, however, favor recognition of climate change by
humans and their various methodologies, with corresponding
voluntary actions, as indeed some
corporate entities already do.
Back when I started in industry, it was common practice to run raw
industrial waste directly into streams; I canoed Midwest rivers
thick with sediment and chemicals.
In college, I researched river vegetation and was chased off sewer pipe locations by company guards. Now, those rivers run clear, a testament of what can be done. We have to live on the planet after all and should be
responsible for maintaining it.
Nevertheless, cap & trade is, IMO
useless.

How do the "people" (especially those from developing countries) benefit from higher energy costs?............I'm all in favor of protecting the environment, BB, but this whole ploy of transforming CO2 from an essential building-block of life to a poison and pollutant is insanity.

When it comes to low-quality intellectual discourse, Ema never dissappoints. She even comes across as weeks late and a few words short, referring to the Charlton Heston discussion. Sorry, Ema, his famous line from "Soylent Green" had a few more words. And BB doesn't disappoint when it comes to well thought out comments.

Yeah, if all liberals were like BB, I might even consider becoming one again.
