On the Fact that There Are Hundreds of Millions of Encounters Between the Police and Civilians In this Country Every Year and they Generally Result In About 1,000 Police Killings (the Vast Majority of Which Are Justified)

So based upon these stats, is it justifiable to say that the police are also, "largely peaceful"? Being a numbers guy, it appears so (and, no, this is in now way excusing any individual trooper who engages in inappropriate bullshit behavior).
