On the Fact that In 1994 (and, Yes, I'm Sincerely Hoping that You're Sitting for this One) Palestinian Politicians, Faisal Husseini and Hanan Ashrawi (Two of the Saner Palestinians of that Era), Petitioned Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, for Assistance In the Development of More Democratization In the Territories (the Goal of Course Being to Counter the Oppressive Rule and Corruption of Arafat) but Instead of Pursuing this Seemingly Golden Opportunity, Rabin Continued to Bang His Increasingly Fragile Psyche Against the Wall and Prop Up Arafat to Disastrous Results
Rabin was a great man in numerous respects (as a military leader,
politician, family man, etc.) but, boy, did he ever botch up the peace
process. Yeah, he probably had to work with Arafat initially but when it
became patently clear that the fellow had no interest in combating
terrorism and was essentially using the peace-process to weaken Israel
and eventually crush it, his decision to not negotiate with Husseini and
Ashrawi when he had the chance to was a huge miscalculation and I
cannot help but wonder...........
