On the Fact that Einstein Apparently Preferred Socialism to Capitalism

I'm going to say the same thing about him as I did about Chomsky: that the dude was a brilliant man AT WHAT HE DID and the fact that he seemingly had thoughts about politics, economics, ethics, art, etc., I really couldn't care less, honestly...................................................................................P.S. He obviously must have missed what happened in 1921 when Harding, in response to a very deep economic downturn, cut spending, cut taxes, and prompted the FED to raise interest rates and that depression was history in less than 24 months (the unemployment rate going down from 12% to 2.4%), while Hoover did pretty much the exact opposite in 1930 (he also kicked in a significant tariff, to boot) and that depression lasted for 15 years (it was only masked by WW2)....So much for these scientists being empirical, huh?

Einstein was brilliant, and like most brilliant people was able to think outside the box and had no use for decade or century old paradigms that made no logical sense to him.

I'll say this, I'd take an Einstein over a Bush or Obama hands down. In a heartbeat.

I would tend to think that Einstein was just ignorant of certain matters outside of his area. A good man, a nice guy

Noam Chomsky? Outside of his area of knowledge, linguistics, he is as nasty and evil as they come. Starting with his endorsement of what the Khmer Rouge was doing after their deeds were known.... and continuing with his piping up in favor of anything fascistic/authoritarian that comes along, his outspoken antisemitism, and his contempt for any economic decisions made by the individuals most directly involved.

Just for the record, I, too, would take Einstein over Bush, Obama, and especially Noam Chomsky.

Chomsky would figuratively and literally have everyone chomping on him were he in politics. I've heard the dude make some valid observations, but mostly he tosses out bogus stuff.

Sort of like a stopped clock, RN. Chomsky can be correct sometimes.

As usual, the 1921 recession and cure has other viewpoints, to wit:
"Warren Harding. Once in office, he convened a President's Conference on Unemployment at the instigation of then Commerce Secretary Herbert Hoover as a result of rising unemployment during the recession. About 300 eminent members of industry, banking and labor were called together in September 1921 to discuss the problem of unemployment. Hoover organized the economic conference and a committee on unemployment. The committee established a branch in every state having substantial unemployment, along with sub-branches in local communities and mayors' emergency committees in 31 cities. The committee contributed relief to the unemployed, and also organized collaboration between the local and federal governments. President Warren G. Harding signed the Emergency Tariff of 1921 and the Fordney–McCumber Tariff.
However, by the time Harding had called his conference, the country's economy had already shown signs of rebound, and merely allowed for President Harding to claim success."
Hoover, again. Inventor of the
vaccum cleaner?

BB, Harding cut spending by 45% from 1920 to 1922 and cut the top tax rate from the dizzying heights of the Wilson administration to 25 and ultimately 24%. Yes, he did help some people in need and as a small l libertarian I don't have a beef with that.

Who doesn't? I really part company, though, with the Left due to their insistence on welfare for corporations, the wealthy, and well off.

I've had so many arguments with leftists who favor squandering resources on handouts to the rich, some even using the excuse that it garners support by the rich for such programs for the poor and makes them less resistant to cutting them. Truly crazy.
