On the State

It is the greatest source of death and destruction known to man (it isn't even a contest), and the fact that there are still people out there who so casually want to enhance its power is exceedingly troubling.

But, but, but... According to the progressive lexicon the state is good. Its power to improve the lives of the individuals it rules is manifest.

We would take note that the common pathogenic virus also bears some responsibility through the ages for death and destruction, severely affecting population demographics and consequently economic affairs.

dmarks - true. BB - fair point (though I would add that over 260 million deaths at the hands of the state - not including war - is a pretty difficult threshold to overcome).
