The Most Underrated Sports Superstar Ever

Yeah, I'm probably going to have go with "the man" on this one; 3,630 hits, 475 homers, 1,951 RBIs, 1,949 runs scored, 725 doubles, 177 triples, a .331 lifetime batting average, and 7 batting titles. To say that this fellow was a great hitter isn't just an understatement, it's a damned insult.

Undoubtedly one of the best. Musial is usually ranked about the same as Ted Williams (who spent some seasons flying a fighter plane), but it depends on who one
worshiped as a tyke. For sure, a
whole bunch of little kids mimicked
the Musial 'stance', and I had a
Ted Williams bat. Stan the Man was a real gentleman and the best player kids could look up to.

The guy hit .330 in 1962 at the age of 41! He also had 1,599 walks, a .417 lifetime on-base percentage and a .559 lifetime slugging percentage. Unbelievable.

In 1960, the club offered Musial
$100,000. He talked them down to
$80,000 because his previous season was 'sub-par'. Hear that,
A-Rod!

He wasn't underrated in the city of St.Louis or the Midwest.

Todays player could take a lesson on how the game should be played from "The Man."

From Musial to A-Rod. Yeah, huh?

Oh, and I forgot to add; 4 pennants and 3 world titles, too.

I think "overlooked" would be a more appropriate description of The Man.

It would be neat to clear out the Hall of Fame and only allow guys like Musial with eye popping numbers entrance.

You're right. Overlooked would have been a much better adjective.......As for the Hall of Fame, yeah, it's kinda been watered down a tad with guys like Ron Santo, Jim Rice, Phil Rizzuto, etc.. But that's just my opinion and didn't have a problem with Robbie Alomar and Barry Larkin getting in.

Hey, how do I get invited to truthshallrule? I really miss your humor, me-buck.

I may need the blog profile for something else Will. That's one of the reasons I hid the blog. Just seeing how involved a candidate will have me.
Employer trying to come up with new rules about employees and social media. Illegal as all hell but he's already fired two people and don't really want to take my chances.

I'm small potatoes but still a target for someone that wants to "send a message" or make an example of.
