Back to funny (and non-dangerous) cartoon sidekicks, I would also nominate Timon and Pumbaa, far and away the best sidekicks from that run of Disney animated "classics" that started with"The Little Mermaid".
Hardy Har Har (to Lippie the Lion) and Dum Dum (to Touche Turtle) I also gave consideration to.
There are some out there who would assert that W was actually a side-kick to Cheney.
