There are of course a myriad of possible explanations for this; nutritional differences, educational differences, familial differences, discriminatory factors, etc.. But for folks to try and say that biology doesn't play ANY role at all is a bit of a stretch, I think. The fact of the matter is that China, Korea, and Japan were far more difficult areas for our ancestors to survive in (the fact that they were a lot colder and harder to acquire food) and, so, yeah, natural selection worked much more in the direction of intelligence than height and other attributes (the same with Ashkenazi Jews who also score extremely high). I mean, I understand that this is a delicate topic for many people to breech but it's also a) an open field of study and b) far more scientific than saying that evolution came to grinding halt 100,000 years ago and that human biodiversity doesn't exist.
